ABANDONED. Dystopian fantasy set in a desert

I remember I read the book in 8th grade (I am almost 26) and I so desperately wanted to read the rest of the series but it was at the high school. I cannot remember for the life of me what it was called. I found it a few years ago again but it wasn't available anywhere to buy.

So details I remember:
-It was set in the desert
-it was about a slave rebellion in a dystopian universe
-I believe the first part of the book was about trying to find a princess and when they did they discovered she had never been outside. Her skin was so pale it was translucent.
-I'm pretty sure the book ended pretty soon after that with the main character planning to organize the rebellion.
