C I N D L E (cindle) | 30 comments Hello everyone. I joined Goodreads in May of this year but come to think of it, I did not formally introduce myself to the group, though I did participate in the personal reading challenge.

I prefer to read Literary Fiction, Historical Fiction, Memoirs, and Classics. I'm interested in getting to know other readers who choose to read fewer books, but who choose books that are emotionally resonant, allowing the reader to delve deep into the book's vivid prose and compelling characters, in appreciation of the author's literary style.

I just set my reading goal for 2019 at 20 novels. Drop a line to chat if you see a title you've read or want to read. No spoilers though :-)

Alexw | 94 comments How can you not like this fabulous group and why have I not joined earlier ? Always looking for buddy readers as I find that different people have different perspectives on a novel that expands the magic of reading.
I set a goal of 40 books a year and read all genres. Lets have some fun with this fun group !!

message 853: by Darren (new)

Darren Ziegler | 1 comments Hello. I'm new to the group. My name is Darren, and I live in Southern California. I enjoy reading, and goodreads has been helpful in getting me to read more and in discovering new books and authors. From what I can tell in looking around so far, this group will enhance both of those benefits. My goals for the coming year are to read more than any previous years, and to explore new authors and genres. I'm looking forward to getting to know each of you a bit better in this forum.

Mikkah | 3 comments Hi, I'm Mikkah, and I live in Missouri. I love books of all kinds and read from a lot of genres, but I mostly end up reading classics, nonfiction (especially science-related and memoirs), contemporary/literary fiction, sci-fi, and horror. I also read a lot of comics but don't track those on Goodreads at all.

I actually first found this group in 2017 when participating in the Popsugar challenge. I lurked then and never joined the group, but decided to join the group for 2019 challenges since I was quite bad about not reading enough in 2018. I usually read 40 books a year, but only read 22 so far this year. I have a goal of 50 books for 2019 to make up for lost time. :)

Baillie ♡ (theonlybaillie) | 3 comments Hello everyone! My name is Baillie and I am from Illinois, United States. I am 23 years old. I really enjoy reading young adult books, fantasy, contemporary, and primarily fiction. I do read some nonfiction though on occasion. I was looking at different reading groups to join, and I thought this one seemed pretty cool. My reading goal for this year is 50 books and I am currently at 46. I think for 2019 I am going to keep my reading goal at 50 books, because I think that about a book per week is a good goal for me.

message 858: by Cassie (new)

Cassie (cassienovareads) | 3 comments Hello ladies and gentlemen!!

My name is Cassie, and I'm from Michigan originally but have been living in Maryland since the end of 2016. I'm 26 with a Bachelors of Science in Zoology, and currently work customer service and banking. I find reading to be an escape from stress of life, a way to emotionally connect with themes and characters and be transported to another world for a brief time. I enjoy young adult books, fantasy, science fiction, "chick-lit", romance, and occasionally mystery. I love happy endings and romantic themes without it having to specifically be a romance book.

I found myself bored at work the other day, going through my book lists and trying to find local book clubs, but found this group and thought it might be a great way to meet new people, make new friends, recommend some of my favorite books, discover new books, and discuss different books with people!

My reading goal for 2019 is going to be around 52 books, so one a week. I'm not sure how well it will go, but I am certainly hopeful! At best, I would like to at least read one every two weeks, so at the very least 26!

Can't wait to see where this group takes me!

Talia Mazzarella (madcap_marginalia) | 5 comments Hi! I've been an avid reader all of my life, but felt quite a bit of burnout after double majoring in English. But I'm back to full form, reading like crazy around my crazy and unpredictable schedule as a freelance video editor.

I love classics, literary fiction, poetry, science fiction, fantasy, satire/humor, nonfiction (especial science and history), experimental books, graphic novels, and books on art/film/music... Honestly, pretty much any words on paper. I'm always up to try new genres.

Last year, I attempted some book challenges for the first time. While I only go halfway through them, I loved how many books I ended up reading that are way out of my usual wheelhouse. My goal this year is to finish at least one challenge, and to go through my physical bookshelf to start thinning it out!

Hoping to meet some new friends and try some new books as part of this group!

Nóri | 79 comments Hello everyone!

I'm Nóri, from Hungary, a lifetime reader and longtime lurker in this group, but I decided it's time for me to come out of the shadows and finally become an active member!

Historical fiction and non-fiction are my bread and butter, but I also read fantasy, horror, thriller, and the occassional poetry. My other interests include music (mostly hard rock and metal, but I'll try anything), cats, the ten billion TV series I watch, collecting everything sheep-shaped, and a little bit of writing. I have a blog where I post reviews and such, I won't promo it but I think you can find the link somewhere if you're curious ... ;)

I'm looking forward to reading with you all, I'm sure it's gonna be lots of fun! :)

message 872: by Jane (new)

Jane | 2 comments Hello everyone! My name is Janette and I'm from Finland. I'm currently studying in university to become a teacher. It is a real passion of mine. I also love dancing and baking. And reading of course :D

I have always loved reading but I kind of fell out of it in highschool. This year I did a finnish reading challenge (called Helmet) organised by libraries where you have to read 50 books. It's pretty similar to popsugar challenge which most of you are propably familiar with. It really helped me get back to reading so I'm super excited for next year!

I read a lot of different genres but my favorites are fantasy and historical fiction. For the last month or so I've been on a YA kick and ignored everything else. One of my goals for 2019 is to read more poetry and non-fiction because those are my least favorite genres. I will be participating in the Helmet reading challenge, popsugar challenge and some interesting ones I find from here. It's going to be a busy year!
