Olivia did her best to try and understand it all. Seeing the gears in her sisters arms, she looked at her own. Putting them out in front of her and flipping them over a few times. It was a bit hard for her to grasp that she had not in fact been born, but created.

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo smiled at her slightly. "But what you always need to remember, Olivia..." She gently tilted her head up so that she looked her in the eye. "Being a construct doesn't make you any less important. Just because you were made and not born doesn't make you any less of a person and doesn't mean we care about you any differently. It just means that there are some things that humans can do that we can't, just like there are things we can do that they can't. Alright?" She smiled at her softly, then kissed her forehead.

message 53: by [deleted user] (new)

Olivia thought about this for a second. She felt it a bit easier to take in now. Her sister telling her that she was still cared for even if she was different, that she was still important to them. She smiled her sweet smile and nodded. Wrapping her arms around her neck and hugging her happily.

message 54: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo smiled at her and hugged her tightly before she stood, taking the girl with her. "Alright. Anything else you can think of that we'll need?" She looked around, then nodded, going to the bag and sipping it up just as Addy came down the stairs. "Wait, wait, wait!" the second construct cried, "There's one more thing we need." She rushed over to the bag, pushed in the thing, then zipped it up and grinned at them. "Alright, ready to go!" She picked up the bag, then took the stairs two at a time, leaving Boo to follow after and laugh.

message 55: by [deleted user] (new)

Olivia smiled and giggled softly as she watched Addy. She hadn't seen them all so happy before.

London had been back and forth between his study and his room, packing everything he needed. Clothes and a few books he would need along the way. Along with a few other things he got for the three. He would give them on the trip there.

message 56: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo laughed and walked up, squeezing past Addy to get to London's room. She knocked on the door, then opened it slowly. "Sir? We're ready when you are." She set Olivia down, allowing her to rush over to London if she wanted to. "When are we leaving, sir?"

message 57: by [deleted user] (new)

London smiled as he opened the door bag in hand. Olivia smiled and went over to him, jumping in his arms. London laughed as she did, kissing her forehead. Olivia smiled happily, and wrapped her arms around his neck, holding on to him.
"If you are all ready." He said. "Then we can be on our way. "I have made all the necessary calls. "The boat will be waiting for us."

message 58: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Addy was already at the front door, bouncing as she waited for the rest to catch up. "COME OOOOOONNNNN!" Boo laughed and shook her head, turning towards the door. "I believe she is desperate to leave, sir." She chuckled softly and walked to the door as well, holding it open for everyone. "After you, sir." Addy rushed out, bouncing at the bottom of the stairs to their house looking like an excited puppy.

message 59: by [deleted user] (new)

London smiled as he walked out the door. Olivia in his arms still as they walked down the stairs outside. Smiling wide as she giggled at all of the excitement.
"We're coming." London said with a laugh as he got down the stairs. "I know you are excited. "But you need to try and calm down a bit. "You'll blow a gasket if you do not."

message 60: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Addy groaned and stared up at him. "But then Boo will have something to do on the train! And we'll all be happy." Boo laughed softly and muttered. "Plus, she'll shut up for a while..." Addy shot her a glare, but Boo simply laughed it off, since both of them knew it was true.

message 61: by [deleted user] (new)

London smiled and rolled his eyes.
"Lets get going." He said as he started walking, the harbor being only a few blocks away from the house. "The boat will be waiting for us." Olivia smiled and jumped down from his arms. Skipping a bit ahead of them. "Don't go to far ahead." London called after her. Olivia smiled and nodded as she happily skipped and twirled around.

message 62: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo walked beside London as Abby jogged alongside Olivia, making sure she didn't hurt herself. She smiled softly at the two of them, a sudden, odd sensation washing over them. It was as if they were all a family, with Abby and Olivia as the children and Boo and London--. Before she could finish the thought, she sharply shook it away, knowing it was a silly road to go down. Her mind, quite sharply, reminded her that she was just a construct, a nearly outdated one at that. She took a deep breath at that thought, one that wasn't really necessary since she didn't have lungs, then looked up at London. "Sir... I'm... I'm starting to get older now..." She glanced at the other constructs, making sure that her voice was too low for them to hear her, but not so quiet that London couldn't. "Have you put any thought into when you're going to take me offline?"

message 63: by [deleted user] (new)

London blinked a few times, surprised by her words. He looked over at her and sighed.
"Boo..." He said softly. "You are getting older, your right. "But I would never dream of taking you offline. "You've been...a very loyal friend to me. "Been with me through all of it." He took in a deep breath. "I don't know if I could bring myself to do it." He admitted quietly.

message 64: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo raised an eyebrow and glanced over at him. "And when your colleagues question why you have such outdated tech with you?" Though he didn't leave the house often, he still was a member of the scientific community, and a young one at that. Even the older member, the ones in their eighties or higher, didn't keep their bots around past the two year mark, one that was drawing ever nearer for Boo. "Olivia is your daughter, sir. I'm just a mechanic." She smiled wryly, then glanced up at him to note any protest. "I'm not designed to be used long term."

message 65: by [deleted user] (new)

"You know I have never cared what they thought." He said as he watched Olivia for a second. Who was in a very playful mood now. He smiled as he turned back to Boo. All of them he cared for. But he sometimes thought he cared for Boo differently. "You aren't just a mechanic." He said softly. "You are way more then that to me."

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo blinked, then looked back at the other constructs, silently wishing she hadn't been built after the superior skin modules had been created. Instead of staying the same no matter what, all of the newer models of constructs, at least all more than four years old at this point, had skin that would change with the temperature, the atmospheric pressure, their mood, just as a human's would. This, of course, meant they could blush, which was exactly what Boo was doing at the moment as her lips pursed in annoyance at herself. "I... I don't know what you mean, sir."

(D'awww. XD)

message 67: by [deleted user] (new)

((XD))

London smiled as he watched her for a second.
"You are very special to me Boo." He said softly. He was about to continue when he was interrupted by Olivia.
"Father!" She called excitedly, grabbing his hand. She pointed ahead of them. The harbor was only a few feet away. Olivia's eyes widened with childlike wonder as she saw the water and the few boats dotting the shore. Pulling London along so they could get there quicker.

message 68: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo blushed even more and looked up at him just as Olivia rushed over. She coughed softly, trying to modulate the color in her cheeks, only doing to with slight success. Seeing Olivia so excited, though, seemed to do the trick. She laughed softly, then gently picked her up, catching a glance from Addy. "Here, let's go find the ship." She gently got the little girl to release him as Addy stayed behind and put a hand on London's chest, making him stop a moment. She looked into his eyes seriously, thankful he was the one who made her since people often were afraid of the metal whites of her eyes. "London. Don't say that to her. Whatever you were going to say... Don't." She stared at him for a moment longer, then turned and rushed ahead, letting her excitement take over once more. She knew that Boo would have to be deactivated one day, long before she would want to and long before London would be willing to give her up, and she didn't want either of them to experience that.

message 69: by [deleted user] (new)

Olivia was a bit upset she was pulled away from him. But it only lasted for a quick second as they got closer to the water. She gasped a bit surprised as she saw the blueness of the water. Jumping a bit as she heard the seagulls cawing over ahead. But she giggled afterwards, smiling wide.
London stood there for a second as he watched the three of them. He had long dreaded the day when he would have to deactivate Boo. And he had been working hard to figure out away to make her last longer. It was part of the reason he had been so distant from all of them lately. He hadn't wanted to tell them and get there hopes up, if he didn't figure it out. He took in a deep breath and stared walking after them again. Deciding to not worry about such things now.

message 70: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo smiled as she watched Olivia react to all of this. When she had been first activated, she had felt the same way on her first trip down to the pier, though hers had been to grab parts for a broken down construct. She laughed softly as she felt Olivia jump in her arms, careful to keep her balanced. "Just remember, don't go in the water, okay? It hurts us and damages our insides. Promise you won't touch the water, okay?"

message 71: by [deleted user] (new)

Olivia looked over at the water again for a second. Wondering how something so pretty could hurt her. But she smiled and nodded.
"The boat is right there." London said as he came up to them, pointing to the boat that they would traveling on. "Lets get on board." He said as he started heading for it. What Addy had said lingering in the front of his mind. Though he made it a point to keep the smile on his face.

message 72: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo raised an eyebrow at Addy as she walked up behind London. Part of her wondered what she had said to him that was making his smile seem stiff, but the other part of her was more concerned with keeping Olivia happy. She smiled at the little girl, then looked over the boat. This would be her first time, really everyone's first time except for London. She wasn't completely certain how it would fare, but she had her tools to fix anything, so she was pretty sure she'd be alright.

message 73: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 24, 2014 10:45PM) (new)

London walked up the small board on to the boat. A man with a very bushy mustache met him. The man that would be taking them across the water to where they would start there journey. They shook hands and talked for a few minutes, before the man walked away to get the boat underway. He turned to the three and smiled at them.
"Come on." He said waving his hand. "I'll show you where our rooms are."

message 74: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo gently set Olivia down, allowing her software to adjust for the swaying of the boat. She held her hand for the time being, her own software already having changed, and smiled at her, quietly coaching her through the process. Addy, on the other hand, had her sea legs almost as soon as she had set foot on the boat and was currently running back and forth from either end of the ship, completely ecstatic about the entire thing. She only stopped when London said he was going to show them to their rooms, and that was only because she didn't know where she would be going. Boo picked Olivia up again and walked forward, following after her creator.

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

Olivia blinked as tried to gain her balance on the swaying ship. It only took a bit, and with Boo helping it took even less time. She was a bit surprised as she was picked up again. Still looking at the boat curiously, not wanting to miss a thing.
"Is it a long trip there, Father" She asked him as they went through the door down to the cabins. London smiled and looked back at her for a second.
"It will only take about a day or two to get there." He explained.

message 76: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo saw Olivia's surprise and put her down reluctantly, as nervous for her as any mother would be. She did take her hand, though, refusing to let go complete control. She smiled softly, then looked over at London. "Plenty of time to explore the ship, then. Right, Addy?" Addy, to her dismay, was standing still, waiting to put her stuff down before running around again. "Yes, but no at the same time." She knelt down and smiled conspiratorially to Olivia. "Once we put our stuff away, you and I can go exploring and ditch Boo and father behind, alright?" She winked at her, then straightened again, pretending she hadn't said anything.

message 77: by [deleted user] (new)

Olivia smiled at Addy, and put her hand over her mouth giggling quietly.
London was quiet, but smiled as he opened the door to the room the three would sharing for the time. It was a a nice size room, with two windows on the far wall facing out toward the water.
"My room is just next door there." He said nodding toward the room across the way. "I'll be in there if you need me. "Don't get into to much trouble." He said smiling as he walked into his room.

message 78: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Addy grinned and set her stuff down, then took Olivia's hand. "Alright, let's go explore!" She lead her out, leaving Boo and London behind.
Boo looked around for a moment, then took a deep breath. She walked across the hall and knocked on the door tentatively, then looked inside. "Ah... Sir? Could I speak with you?"

message 79: by [deleted user] (new)

Olivia squealed excitedly as she followed after Addy.
London had been taking the gifts he had for them out of his bag. He smiled and set them down, before he went and opened the door.
"Of course." He said stepping aside so she could come in. "What's on your mind?"

message 80: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments "You..." Boo walked in and looked around, then turned to him and bit her lip nervously. "Earlier... It... It seemed as if you had more to say. What was it?" She looked at him, her eyes flicking over his features before she looked down again. This feeling was alien to her and she hated it. This level of nervousness... It was something she had never experienced before. It was terrible.

message 81: by [deleted user] (new)

London looked over at her after he closed the door. He had wanted to say more. He wanted to tell her how special she actually was to him. But he couldn't shake what Addy had said though. But he couldn't help himself now that she was there and asking.
"Boo." He said walking closer to her, taking one of her hands in both of his. "I said that you are very special to me. "And you are." He took in a very deep breath before continuing. "I care for you very deeply, and all this talk of taking you offline. "It makes me sad to think about it. "I don't know what I would do if you weren't around."

message 82: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo blushed lightly, staring down at their hands. "Well... Wouldn't you just build another version of me with more upgrades?" She shrugged slightly and looked up at him, then down again, since looking at him at the moment was sending her software towards corruption. "I mean... You still have my basic programming, right? You just build another shell and put that in..." She laughed softly, though dread still pitted in her stomach. Even if she had her programming put into another shell, she wouldn't be the same. She wouldn't have any of her memories, none of the experiences... Really, it wouldn't be her. "Besides, you feel the same way about Olivia and Addy, right? You don't want to take any of us offline. We're your creations."

message 83: by [deleted user] (new)

"I care about Olivia and Addy too, of course." He said nodding. "Olivia is my daughter, I care for her like any father would. "Addy I care for as a friend." He shook his head. "It wouldn't be the same if I just rebuilt you, none it would be....you. "Another construct could never take your place." He didn't like talking about it anymore then thinking about it. And his research to figure out how to keep her around, was still pretty much ongoing. Though he felt as though he was getting closer to the answer. He smiled softly and walked over to his bag and grabbed one of the presents, the one he got for her. A small black box, wrapped in a white ribbon. "Here." He said softly. "This is for you."

message 84: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo looked at him, blushing brightly as her thoughts got ahead of him, filling in the last gap there. She looked down again, trying to keep her processor in line, then looked up at him again when he said it wouldn't be her. She looked as if she were about to cry as she stared at the ground, then wiped her eyes before she finally looked up again and took the present. "What is it?" She slowly unwrapped it, then smiled slightly down at it, looking like she was about to cry again. London treated them better than most people did to their constructs, treating them like people rather than others who treated them in the same way they treated their toasters.

message 85: by [deleted user] (new)

"See for yourself." He said softly as he watched her open it. A necklace lay inside, it had a small glass ball on it. Inside it was a tiny silver rose. He had thought of her when he saw it. He had never thought to treat them any differently then he would a human. To him they were no different then a human was, and he made it a point to make sure that they all knew that.

message 86: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo gasped softly as she stared down at the necklace. "It's gorgeous..." She smiled and looked up at him, then back at the necklace. She took the necklace out of its case gently, using the utmost care, then held it out to him. "Would... Would you put it on, please?" She smiled at him slightly, looking happy to the point of tears.

message 87: by [deleted user] (new)

He smiled and nodded, taking it from her. Glad that she liked it, that he had picked her present right. He smiled a bit wider, seeing how happy she was.
"Of course." He said as he unhooked it and put it gently around her neck. He knew this trip was a good idea, and it was evident to him even more so now. He was glad to be able to show Olivia how big the world really was, outside of the house. Bring Addy on the adventure she had been craving. And make Boo as happy as she was now.

message 88: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo looked down at the necklace and smiled widely, then looked over at him and hugged him gently, so that she didn't hurt him. "Thank you... Thank you so much." She pulled back again, then kissed his cheek lightly before she let go and turned around to go. "S-sorry..."

message 89: by [deleted user] (new)

London was not really surprised by the hug, but he was bit surprised when she kissed his cheek. But he smiled softly. It faded when she turned around to go.
"You don't have to be sorry." He said with a sigh.

message 90: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo turned and rubbed her arm, looking up at him nervously. "But... Constructs aren't supposed to do that..." She looked at the floor, then back at him. She took a deep breath, her new level of nervousness about twenty times worse than before. "You said you feel like Olivia is your daughter and Addy is your friend... How do you see me?"

message 91: by [deleted user] (new)

He pressed his lips together, looking down for a second. Trying to find the right words.
"You are...." He stopped as the words were still not right in his head. And then Addy's words quickly coming to mind again, washing over what he was thinking. He closed his eyes as he tried to shake it away. "I...think of you as....someone I couldn't see myself without. "Someone who is possibly...more then just a friend." He said in almost a whisper. Telling himself that he was going to find a way. He would in fact do it. He couldn't tell her this, and not make it happen.

message 92: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Boo smiled and looked over at him. She blushed lightly and put a hand on her necklace, looking down at it for a moment before she walked over to him slowly. For some reason, it was as if her processors were lagging, taking in every second as if it were a minute and making everything seem slower than it was. She stopped in front of him and kissed his cheek lightly, hoping her lips weren't too cold, then pulled back again and looked at his shoulder. "I'll go set up our things." Her eyes flicked to his face for a moment before she turned and went back to their room, setting up the charging cables next to the bed so that they could lie down instead of stand as they normally did. She couldn't wipe the huge smile off of her face as she worked, both because she was using her skills and because of what London had said.

message 93: by [deleted user] (new)

London smiled as he watched her go. Unable to move for a second as he thought about everything. Realizing how dire it really was now. He would devote the time he had alone to working on his research. He opened his bag and pulled out his books and notes. Diving right into it.
Olivia couldn't stop giggling as the checked out the ship. Her eyes wide and happy with excitement as she looked out over the water that seemed to never end. She gasped softly as she saw a grey animal peak up out the water and stare at her for a second. As quickly as it came it dove back under the water.

message 94: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Addy grinned as she ran around with Olivia. Unlike Boo, she didn't feel the need to constantly be holding her, to keep her completely safe. Instead, she allowed her to do as she pleased, within reason, so she could experience as much as possible. "Did you see that?!" She grinned as she saw the dolphin come up for air. "That was a dolphin, Oli! They live in the ocean and come up to breathe. Isn't that cool?"

message 95: by [deleted user] (new)

"It was so pretty!" She mused, smiling wide as she continued to look out over the water. Hoping to catch another glimpse of it, or another creature. Olivia did like being held by Boo, it made her feel loved. But she also liked the freedom Addy usually gave her, being able to do things on her own. Olivia tilted her head curiously as she looked down into the water, seeing her reflection there.

message 96: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Addy put a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Remember, Oli. You can't touch the water, alright? I can't even touch the water." She looked over at their reflections and smiled slightly. "Come on, there's still a bunch more to look at and we should probably help Boo with the set up." She took the girl's hand and lead her towards the room.

message 97: by [deleted user] (new)

Olivia took one more look out over the water as she followed Addy. The dolphin from before popping up again and waving it's tail. Looking as though it was waving goodbye to the little construct. Olivia laughed her soft laugh, and waved her small hand back at it as they walked down the stairs toward the room.

message 98: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Addy looked down at Olivia when she laughed, then out at the ocean to see what she was looking at. She laughed softly as well, then trailed back to the room. She raised an eyebrow at Boo's smile, but decided not to question it, instead focusing on the necklace around her neck. "Hey, where'd you get that?" She stared at it, then zoomed in and smiled at the beautifully detailed rose in the centre. "It's pretty."

Boo looked up when the pair entered, then smiled even wider and put a hand on the pendant of the necklace London had given her. "It was a present from London. I think he has ones for you guys, too. Why don't you go and see?"

message 99: by [deleted user] (new)

"Father has presents for us?" Olivia said smiling and clasping her hands together excitedly. She smiled and ran out of the room toward his. Knocking on the door. London stood up from where he had been working and opened the door. He smiled seeing her there, taking her hand.
"I have something for you." he said as he led her inside. Grabbing the flat present off the table. He knelt down and handed it to her. She smiled and took it from him, taking off the yellow wrapping paper and revealing a blue book of fairy tales and nursery rhymes. "I could read one of the stories to you tonight." He said to her. She smiled and nodded hugging him happily.

message 100: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 1252 comments Addy walked in the door just in time to see Olivia open her present. She smiled and crossed her arms, leaning against the frame and letting them finish their moment before she said anything. "Pardon the intrusion, London. Boo said you had something for me as well?"
