Chapter 1-17
(view spoiler)[ I like how this book written giving all main characters their own chapters and point of view. The beginning caught my attention. Very unique on the maji history with the white hair and magic that no longer exists. To see the princess be totally upset at her best friend being killed by her dad the king she took it in her own hands to still the artifact. Yeah I knew she'll run into Zelie. Seen that coming a mile away lol. But I'm interested in the trailer in their going to do while learning about each other. Inan the Prince I'm so interested in him his powers and how is he a maji hmm interesting. (hide spoiler)]

I really want to buy this but also I’m getting it from the library (since I almost never buy books) so I don’t know what to do. Im going to admit though, that the cover is like 90% the reason I want this book on my tiny shelf forever.

To me it's so worth buying. I brought it from Amazon for 11.00 since I have Prime I didn't have to pay for shipment at all. It's worth it. I'm loving it. It was at first just going to be another library book but once I got started I knew I'll want to have my own copy. Plus yes the cover is gorgeous. The naked cover is pretty too. So detailed. Love the map.

I also understand that Zelie loves her Baba but a lot of people died and she gave in just like that when the king had Baba. Even her Baba didn't like she gave in so quickly. Inan poor Inan he just didn't know what to do with himself. He hated being what he was but at times he was curious too. He just wanted to please his dad. Amari she's come a long way since being that little girl that listen to everyone and do as they say. Tzain best brother every. 4 🌟 I enjoyed. At times it was a bit slow and let down with the adding the romance parts to it. Not all YA needs to have romance. Loveable read. I'll read part 2. (hide spoiler)]

I really like Amari, she seems so caring! I also like Zélie buuut I think that she should be more understanding of Amari. I mean, she did bring the magic scroll, and I think that maybe Zélie should appreciate that. Still love her though, and her brother and Mama Agba and baba! Basically I love all of them, lol.

(view spoiler)[First of all, holy freaking shit! I LOOOVE THIS BOOK.

Zélie is a freaking badass and I love her. Her intense hatred of Amira is a bit much, but I think that if she would take the time to talk to her she'd like her. Her huge mood is a big part of her character though and I don't like her any less because of it.

Inan is the one I find the most interesting so far. I wasn't expecting him to have magic and I'm really interested in seeing how that happened. Apart from that, his moral dilemma is so intriguing to read about. He's been told that he must protect the people of his kingdom, but the villagers of Ilorin are his people and I'm so glad he sees that. I'm hoping he'll end up kicking his father off the throne. I really hate the current king...

Plot-wise, this is so stinking good. I love a good quest and with Inan (probably) hunting them, this has great potential. Can't wait to see how this turns out! (hide spoiler)]

Ahhh so much is happening and I just neeeeeed to keep reading so this is going to be pretty short...

First of all, the time limit on bringing magic back. A ritual and 3 artifacts sound pretty straightforward but WHY aren't we running to the secret island like our life depends on it? This is definitely going to bite them in the ass...

Inan is finally with them and not trying to kill Zélie and I'm sooo happy. I love Inan and getting to see his constant battle with his morals, his magic, and what he believes in. I still need him to be okay, though :( If he ends up betraying them I'm going to scream because I can't deal with that.

Amari has definitely grown on me too. At first, I wasn't so sure I liked her but now she is my precious. Harm her and die.

Also, this magic system is so cool. The fact that different magic has different colors and gods and the story in the temple about the origins of magic and just... MAGIC!
