Heather Hayden | 4 comments Hi everyone!

I need help for something I apparently have been overlooking for a year and a half.

The following books are part of a series and need to be added.

Name of the series: JL Anthology

Volume 1: From the Stories of Old: A Collection of Fairy Tale Retellings

Volume 2: Between Heroes and Villains: A Superpower Anthology

Volume 3: Whispers in the Shadows: A Horror Anthology

Volume 4: Of Legend and Lore: A Collection of Fairy Tale Retellings

Thank you in advance for your help!

Sincerely,
Heather Hayden

Hugo (hugo_nebula) | 740 comments Hi, Heather.

Unfortunately, these books are anthologies covering various genres, and as such do not meet the Goodreads definition of a Series (that is, the books do not have characters and/or universes in common).

You can find more information on the Goodreads policy here.

Heather Hayden | 4 comments Hi Hugo,

Thank you for your reply. Although that is frustrating for me, since I'd prefer that readers could easily see all the volumes in the series, I appreciate your explanation.

Hugo (hugo_nebula) | 740 comments You're welcome, Heather.

As a Librarian however, I'm obliged to remove the anthology and number information from the Title of each book in order to comply with the policy.

If you'd like to provide me with a short blurb concerning the 'JL Anthology' nature of the books, I'll be happy to add that to each book's description as I go, so that users can see the books are an imprint. You can also create a Listopia yourself later, if you choose.

I'll leave this thread open in a tab and wait for your reply.

Heather.

I've reverted the Titles of these books to remove invalid Series information, as per Goodreads policy:
Imprints and other unrelated collections of works (usually by multiple authors) are not series. They can be grouped with a Listopia list, or the collection/imprint information can be listed in the edition field, but they should not be grouped into a series, or listed on a book's title line.

You can, of course, list the JL Anthology information in each books' Description or Editions Field, as advised previously.

Heather Hayden | 4 comments Hugo,

Just saw your messages. My apologies for the extra work I have caused; I assumed that it would be fine to list it in the title given that other anthologies series do so, such as the Fellowship of Fantasy series (one book being Hall of Heroes: A Fellowship of Fantasy Anthology).

In the future, I'll make sure not to include that information. Thankfully, Amazon at least lists them together as a series.

Have a wonderful day.

No apology necessary; it's a common mistake - there are many books listed as Series which do not meet the Goodreads criteria, and we fix them as we find them.

You seem comfortable with editing your books' information, so I'd again refer you to the Manual (this section specifically), which states that your JL Anthology imprint "...can be grouped with a Listopia list, or the collection/imprint information can be listed in the Edition field (of each book)", which would best fit your needs within Goodreads policy.

Heather Hayden | 4 comments Thanks, Hugo. I appreciate your patience and knowledge! When I have the time I'll look into the Listopia list and the Edition field. Have a wonderful day!
