Since the first month is free, there's really nothing to lose. I signed up for the free month of Prime around Thanksgiving. Got free two-day shipping on all my Christmas purchases.

Thousands of Kindle Unlimited titles also come with free professionally narrated Audible audiobooks. Whenever you see the "With Narration" icon, you can switch seamlessly between reading and listening on your Kindle tablet or free Kindle reading app, without ever losing your place. Additionally, your Kindle Unlimited membership includes a complimentary 3-month Audible membership with access to over 150,000 titles.

I considered it three credits because I already have an Audible membership. A lot of times when they have these promotions, you can't take advantage of it if you already have an Audible subscription. This basically adds a credit a month to your account for three months.

Prime is ok, but a lot of the movies/tv shows available for streaming still cost extra on top of the Prime fee, which irritates me. Still, you can pay for a whole season of, for example, Game of Thrones for $35 (or something can't remember exact amount), which is about how much you'd pay for 3 months of HBO.
I think Netflix has more stuff included in the basic amount, or at least more stuff I'm interested in, but not any HBO stuff. It's frustrating to search through Netflix, Prime and Hulu Plus looking for the stuff I want but getting all 3 is still cheaper than most cable so there ya go.
I just got rid of my Directv, so I'm cable-less for now and exploring options.

What you have to still pay to view a season? then whats the point? If I still have to pay for the shows I need to watch then I'm going to ask for a refund. Thats not cool. I can only have one either Netflix or Prime.

They don't own a tablet or a computer he watches my netflix on his xbox. I haven't heard of prime being available on xbox yet I don't even know if it ever would be considering that Microsoft is trying to build a whole "media" experience and will probably start offering their own similar model of netflix/prime.

I know I've heard a lot of people saying that it's like "charging $10/month for a library card with less selection". To be honest, my public library isn't within walking distance, doesn't have ebooks, and has an extremely small selection of fantasy and sci-fi.
At any rate, we'll see at the end of the free month if I want to continue with kindle unlimited.

They also informed me that Kindle Unlimited has more books available than prime. I'm confused because yes you do get the audio with certain Kindle Unlimited books but 10 + 12 months is 120 and thats all you get.
With prime I pay 50 a year for students if I wasnt it would be 100 and it seems you get so much more for your money.

If your profile is correct, your local library does offer Overdrive ebooks - your tax dollars at work.
I have cards from 7 different library systems and may still try Amazon Unlimited. It's good to have choices.

Amazon Prime is available for the Xbox (or at least it was. TV died and haven't bought a replacement so it has been a few months since I checked). Don't know if I will pull the trigger on unlimited. Slow reader and I already have a pile waiting.

So far I think its really helping me read faster but I just don't have the money to buy all of these extra subscriptions from Amazon. If the prime members automatically got the unlimited books it would be a great add on. I may cancel my audible because I pay 14 a month and if I want the book along with the audio I have to ay for it separately. With Unlimited you automatically get the audio for some of the books when you press to read free for unlimited. I did this with Dawn and so far its doubled my reading pages in less time. When ever I feel like putting the book down or multi tasking I just turn on the audio and it picks right up.

Oh just found out its not compatible with my tablet . I think the samsung tablets are very popular so I don't know why. But Netflix is compatible.

Or you can buy a whole season of Game of Thrones on Blu Ray for same price :)

Or if you wait for deals and price drops, you can buy a whole season of Game of Thrones on DVD or Blu Ray for much cheaper. ;)

Yes, but then I'd need a blu ray player. I like the amazon videos because I can watch on my roku, tablet, or laptop with no effort.

Agree. What good is 600,000 titles if none of the books are any good? I don't expect free Stephen King book or anything, but come on.....I suspect a lot of titles on there could be had for free anyway.

What if I try Kindle Unlimited for free for 30 days, then "hoard" hundreds of books, and then cancel the subscription after a month? What happens to all the free books one gets while on free trial?
Thanks!

If you cancel KU - I don't know but I imagine that all the books your borrowed are zapped from your Kindle library. Now if you were sneaky and took a Kindle Paperwhite, turned off the Wifi before canceling, you might keep those books for a while. But on the Kindle apps - they are probably gone right away.
