Combining volumes of different serieses

Hi all, I would like to solve a dilemma regarding combining or not volumes with the same content but that belong to different serieses with different numbering.
More specific: Ranma ½ original series is composed of 38 volumes, Argentinian edition is splitted in 50 volumes. Starting from volume #25 of the Argentinian edition, each volume corresponds to an original Japanese volume, so AR #25 has the same content of JPN #13.
Is it ok to combine AR #25 and JPN #13?
In my opinion it isn't right, since in this way JPN #13 will be part of the Argentinian series, that is simply not true. From the manual: "as a general rule, a book is only part of a series if that designation would apply to all editions of a work".

Hello.
I say when combining books, the priority is always the content of the books itself, and which number it is in a series is secondary.
That's why the original "Ranma #13" it is the #13 in its own series BUT it is Too the #25 in the Argentine edition.
As Goodreads ables to have one book in different series as the same time, the solution is to have always in the Top series with the (move up) the main edition, and down the list, the Argentine edition, because this version is explicit when it says the contents are the same. That's why the Viz edition of "Dragon Ball Z" is merged with japaneses and international editions of Dragon Ball starting with #17, and the same happens in similar cases.
I have to go now but can explain better myself later if necesary.

I agree, when the content of the volumes is identical there's no reason to keep them separated. The edition from Argentina even features the original japanese numbering on the spine.

The rule for series refers to imprints.
In this case JPN 13 is a part of the Argentinian series. The same thing happens with the US edition where volumes 17 to 36 correspond to the japanese volumes 19 to 38 and are merged as such.
