Hi everyone, just thought I'd share some lovely news with you: Ian M. Banks's CONSIDER PHLEBAS novel is about to head into development and eventually become a sci-fi drama series on Amazon.

This gives me an extra thing to put on my TO-WATCH list, along with OLD MAN'S WAR, which is also in development. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a movie adaptation, though I've heard people mention it will be a tv series. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, DUNE by Frank Herbert is also in development by Denis Villeneuve, who brought us BLADE RUNNER 2049 and ARRIVAL. This means that DUNE will most likely be worth watching, unlike Hollywood's previous attempts to turn DUNE into a movie. Ugh!

If you want to read more about it, here's the link: http://variety.com/2018/tv/news/consi...

Happy days!!!

Moved to the movie/TV folder.

Here's hoping the translation to screen is done well!

Didn't know this folder existed. Thanks, Teresa.

I think we can sleep easily at night regarding DUNE. It's in good hands. My only concern is how they're going to squeeze such a big story into a movie. Maybe we'll see Part A and Part B, like they did with the Hobbit.

As for CONSIDER PHLEBAS and OLD MAN'S WAR, I don't know who's directing and producing.

Ulysese (mercilessfir) | 11 comments Denis Villeneuve’ films are categorized as art house. Too few people have the patience for 2.5 or 3 hour films.

Personally, love Denis’ films and would see Dune no matter how long!

If the story is compelling (in which case it is), and the characters are intriguing (again this is the case) and let's not forget the visuals, then I can watch 4 hours.

Regarding patience, that's the problem nowadays. More and more people invest more time scrolling meaningless social media content than take the time to explore a book or watch a film without reaching for their phones 10 mins in. But that's just my opinion :)

Trike | 777 comments Teaser for Netflix’s new Lost in Space. Not much to see other than the release date (April 13).

They have a black daughter, which should drive the racists crazy. I assume it’s Judy since she looks too young to be Major West.

haha! yeah, you've got to aggravate the racists. It's easy to do and it's good fun.

Saw the trailer for Lost In Space yesterday on IMDb. Surprising how they've kept it very hush hush.

The only one of these I really want to see is Foundation, and of course, I don't have Apple TV.

Just that it debuts July 25. I hope it’s better than Origin Unknown. I couldn’t make it all the way through that one.

Lizzie | 303 comments Recent articles indicate the plan for Dune is 2 movies. I am hopeful that they will be long. A trilogy would have worked for me too.

I have always thought the concepts in Dune was too involved to even put Dune onto a screen of any kind. To date, what has been done has proven that. With today's tech, the right producer and script writers, I am hopeful for the new movie. Good cast from what I have seen thus far.

Season 2 was supposed to start filming in March. With everything delayed, maybe it will go forward with release in 2021.

Lizzie | 303 comments Anyone like Salvation? I saw season 1 on prime; then watched season 2 on CBS Access during my free month.
