Rosalie King | 10 comments Hi fellow authors, just wanted to let you know what happened to me. I was trying to leave reviews for product purchases a few months ago, and every time I did Amazon gave me the message that I had violated the community guidelines and could not leave a review. After contacting them, I found out that my privileges to leave reviews had been revoked, as review swaps are against community guidelines. I had no idea about this, otherwise I wouldn't have participated in the review swaps. I think this policy is ridiculous, but unfortunately there's nothing we can do about it. Thankfully, I was able to explain to them that it was an innocent mistake, and they reversed their decision. Just wanted to let everyone know so you can make your own decision.

Did you review a book by another author who then reviewed yours?

Rosalie King | 10 comments Hi Gretchen, yes that's pretty much what this group is for. I might be wrong, but I think most reviewers in this group are authors even though it's open to readers who want free books.

In the swap group, you don't review books by authors who have reviewed yours. At least, that's how it's supposed to work.

J.B. Trepagnier (jbtrepagnier) It's not just swapping reviews that will get your review privileges revoked. If they think you are leaving too many biased reviews, they will revoke it. If your family leaves too many reviews on your books, they will think your are manipulating reviews. If you are facebook friends with a lot of authors and review a lot of your books, they will think you are manipulating reviews and suspend your review privileges

J.B. Trepagnier (jbtrepagnier) I think by biased, it's not that you just leave 5 star reviews. It's constantly leaving 5 star generic reviews like "Love everything about this book, love the author". Things that end up looking like fake 5 star reviews from someone who's never read the book

ForestRage ForestRage | 2 comments ForestRageI'm a first time Author publishing on Amazon. I think Amazon is trying to stop false reviewers from posting, but its also hurting intentional readers from posting.

I have been having problems of a different kind. My reviewers cannot post on Amazon because they have not spent the required money on sales.

Imagine having a well-intentional reader purchasing your ebook on Amazon only to be locked out from providing a review.
