Sweet dreams. And I've had hours to digest and I'm still not over that. Not even a tiny bit."

Nope, me neither.

Yes, what's next on our PNR list? I'm trying to catch up with my previously scheduled buddy reads right now, but I should be refreshed and ready to go again by next week :-)

Virginie | 6109 comments I only have Age of War to read, and my next BR is the 23rd :D I want to start White Sand though (the prose) so I won't read as fast as the last 3 Georgina Kincaid ^_^. Other than that, I'm game!

I think we talked about Gena Showalter at some point, but I'm up for anything. Do you guys have a series on your TBR you're itching to get to?

PS: Want to re-read White Sand, Diana? :D

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 5391 comments Lol, not ready for a White Sand reread. I think my next Sanderson reread will be Mistborn.

It's not PNR, but I've been thinking I'd like to re-read

Agatha H and the Airship City
Agatha H and the Clockwork Princess
Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle

They're steampunk graphic novels / comics books that have been novelized into traditional books and released as audiobooks...

The only problem is that it's taking forever for the 4th novel to come out (4yrs and counting)... the books cover the first 7 volumes of the comics, so far... Act 1 of the comics includes 13 volumes, and they're currently on the 4th volume of Act 2 (volume 17)... so there's a lot of material waiting to be novelized... and you can find that material HERE if you just want to read the comics, but I've been waiting for the novels since I listened to the audiobooks last summer... (I think they're just busy with the comics to find time to write the novels at the moment... and novelizing requires additional material)...

Summary: So, they're steampunk novels, set in a world ruled by Mad Scientists (until they get distracted with their genius)... a lot of the rest of the plot is best discovered, I think... my favorite characters are the Jagermonsters... Frankenstein supersoldiers that suck at seduction

If you guys are interested, maybe a new thread is in order... I know Virginie likes graphic novels... this is about as close as I get these days...

And there's a talking cat (robot?)

This comment is serendipitous... I swear I started writing my long post before this appeared :D

I've kind of been scrapping a lot of my BR schedule in favor of romance/PNR and other non-Fantasy BRs...

Still need to read Age of War, tho... and then I only have Shadows of Self, Heir of Novron, Human Division, Trail Through Time, Percy Jackson 4, Wrath of Empire, Rithmatist, and Bookburners for the rest of the month... and these weekly random BRs... positively empty schedule :D

Only actual PNR suggestion I have in my TBR anymore (that isn't book 20 in a series) is Eternal Pleasure... it's supposed to be this really weird PNR series with reincarnated Dino-shifters brought back to life to save the universe, or something... Lena read it in 2016, and I think I hear about it around then from the Felicia Day book club vodcast, as well...

Easy peasy! :p

Virginie | 6109 comments Dino... shifters? O_O

I'm intrigued lol.

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 5391 comments Lol, it's weird enough to be interesting. I can do dino shifters. Is it PNR? Are there adult scenes (in human form I hope cuz otherwise that might be TOO weird for me)? I'm only signing on for books with adult scenes ;-)

message 366: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

Timelord Iain | 35754 comments Mod
I think so... it's been awhile since I heard things about it... details are fuzzy... I know it's PNR... the title sure sounds adulty enough :)

Agatha H, on the other hand, is very much on the UF end of the spectrum, romance-wise... and YA/NA...

message 367: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments So I checked, I have access to all 3 books. I kind of want to try this weird Dino-shifters series, if you guys are interested 😂

I actually just started clicking around... Nina Bangs looks like such a wholesome older woman... to have an author name like that and write these dino books... kinda like Anne Bishop with her Black Jewels series and Others...

Anyway... looks like Nina Bangs didn't write much for the past couple years, but God of Pleasure is getting reprinted after a long stretch of being out of print, in prep for a 4th book coming out in October... perfect time to be reading these if we like them... the synopses sound like there are 11 dino Gods to mate away...

I'm gonna start this.. it'll probably take me a little while, since I have to read it on my Kindle, but I've been struggling with Ocean Light for over a month now, barely touching it, so hopefully this engages me more...

Eternal Pleasure

message 380: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments Nice! I'm curious to see what you think of it. I'll probably start once I finish Age of War, and read it alongside White Sand.

Starts off promising... not sure what I was expecting, after what I'd heard, but the writing is pretty solid...

Chapter 1: (view spoiler)

Question: (view spoiler)

I'm only a handful of pages in, but it's promising so far... dunno if I'll be this thorough with all the chapters, but while I'm at home, I'm taking Virginie-style notes as I read...

message 382: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments Good to know :D Yay for the notes!

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments I'm confused. What are you guys actually reading? 🤔

message 384: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments Eternal Pleasure

Because dino-shifters. DINO-SHIFTERS!!!

message 385: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments DINO-SHIFTERS!!! - OOOOKKKKK - have fun!!! I'm out of here! (*quietly but extremely quick - exits the room*)

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 5391 comments Lol, I probably won't start till next week. I have a few more books to catch up with but last things scheduled on the tracker start on the 15th so end of the month is easiest for me.

message 387: by Virginie (last edited Jul 15, 2018 12:37PM) (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments Will start tonight. Just finished Age of War and I'm emotionally spent. Can't read White Sand right now :p

I need sexy dino-shifters!

message 388: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

Timelord Iain | 35754 comments Mod
I haven't had as much to say since them first chapters... or as much time to read my Kindle...

Dino-shifters might have been an over-exaggeration... seem to be the souls of Dino-warriors in human bodies... they have a bit of a ghostly soul-form...

My question: (view spoiler)

About your question: (view spoiler)

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 5391 comments Where did you guys find this book? I can't find it at any library and even Amazon doesn't have the kindle version.

message 391: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

Timelord Iain | 35754 comments Mod
I think the ebooks are out of circulation at the moment... probably change with the re-release in August... Amazon has a few physical books for sale... Hoopla has the 3rd ebook (might be regional?...)

message 392: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments Got them from a Swedish library.

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 5391 comments So started tonight. Finished chapter 2 and I got to say I'm not sure if it's for me. It's written like the typical adult book. Instalove, scary alpha male, poor helpless stupid heroine (who's painted as being totally bad ass but in reality puts herself into really bad situations and always needs saving), with poor decisions made to further a plot that's iffy at best. And you know each book will be about another member of this dino posse. Reminds me of Black Dagger Brotherhood. I'll probably still read it, since I read BDB after all, but I've lowered my expectations.

message 394: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

Timelord Iain | 35754 comments Mod
I entered with low expectations... sorry if I didn't make that clear... the books were recommended to me as ridiculous... the things me and Virginie seem to be enjoying are the elements that defy the expected formula... even if they quickly rever back...

Now that you mention BDB, I'd say one mark in Gods of Night's favor is the lack of a Szpecial Lhanguage... that got annoying after awhile... For Truth, My Brother...

message 395: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments Finished last night. I rushed through it 'cause I needed to read something ridiculous and fast to help process Age of War (which seriously damaged me emotionally :O).

Like Iain said, I was interested in the unusual elements of the story but... Let's just say the 'scary alpha male' trope doesn't go away, on the contrary. Urgh.

Lol I kinda of liked the weird jargon. Though I do admit it got annoying after a while.

But seriously, if I was working as a driver and someone was getting into the car who left me irrationally scared shitless and oozed a need to get laid, I don't think any amount of pepper spray could keep me there. Getting raped is not worth paying off college debt.

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 5391 comments And I like how in the meeting when they talk about how he put them in super erotic bodies so they won't have a problem getting laid, one of them asks about what if they fall in love yada yada. And Fin responds with how something like that is sooo unlikely. My eyes did a roll all by themselves. I couldn't even control that level of eye roll 😂

What grew annoying was how every special word pretty much meant exactly what the regular spelling meant, just in relation to vampire society... so why even have special spellings... and the list of terms was growing long by the time I quit at book 9...
