Plotting
*coughs* Okaaaayyyy....
By this time, Max is deeply involved in the SDH. He's an ex-general after all, and doesn't have anything better to do with his time. (c'mon, Max...) He's assigned (or assigns himself!) to a completely different barricade (all my boys are pretty much scattered at different barricades DX) in a strategic position.
During Lamarque's funeral, Nechole & co. come out as Mlles. Liberte etc. And, along with Enjolras (our golden-tongued Apollo) are seen as figureheads of the Revolution. They and Enjolras are, of course, at the “original” barricade. Just after the second attack (Paige is taken captive in the first, might end up at a different barricade post-escape, Cecile shot or disappears during second,) Nechole is shot, Acel carries her into the café thinking she is dead, Max arrives on a horse, accosts Enjolras (who has already found out this barricade is doomed to fall) and tells him another barricade is lacking morale, but has a good spot, they need inspiration, get you and Nechole over there this second. (*cough cough* no nepotism in saving them, erm, Max?) He hears Nechole has fallen, grabs Acel instead- not because he has any inherent ability to inspire anyone (he inflicts quite the opposite effect, the post-royalist idiot) but because Enjolras, the Paris boy, doesn’t know how to ride a horse. (*giggles*) Enjolras is hopefully in a bit of a daze by now (YOUR SISTER JUST DIED IN SOMETHING YOU KINDA CONVINCED HER TO DO, CANNONBALL) and complies. He then takes over said other barricade. Nechole survives because a.) she’s a girl and probably gets off easy anyway and b.) (maybe) Jasper is like what the Louis-Phillipe is my fiancé’s little friend doing shot back of a barricade.
ANYWAY. VERY BARE-BONES AND VERY BADLY EXPLAINED BUT THERE IT IS.

Alright! *clears throat*Paigé fights strong at the main barricade with Nechole, Enjolras, Benoît, and all the others. (Colonel DeTaunt is also, regrettably, the Colonel leading the attack against the barricade and is rather reluctant about the whole thing). Like Seneca said, once it’s revealed Paigé is Mlle Equality, she becomes a beacon along with the other girls and Enjolras. ((Okay I want Paigé there when Benoît dies so she can’t be taken before that happens!!!)) But after Benoît’s death, whenever that occurs, Paigé is fighting with the others once again as a second wave launches an attack against the Barricade. Paigé sees Nechole get shot and turns to make sure she’s alright when she too is shot and falls, but on the enemy side of the barricade. She’s shoved a such since most of the advancing soldiers think she’s dead until DeTaunt sees she’s still alive and drags her behind the line. However, he is forced by his position to put her in shackles and give her only the minimum of medical care before she is take by a troop who’s going for more supplies to the prison. No one on the Les Amis side knows she’s alive and she stays in prison, getting ill from the poor conditions and her wound, till it’s announced she’s to be executed, along with other traitors the next day and the list of those to be executed is posted in the square by the gallows.
DeTaunt is approached by one of the Les Amis boys and he tells them that Paigé is indeed alive but in very poor health, as he’s been visiting her in prison under the pretense of interrogating her. He agrees he will try to help her but does not know how. ((And nor do I!))
And that’s all I got so far.
*still stubbornly likes own idea* XD
Mm. Anyway. Benoît is actually at a different barricade, which is defended by like six theology students? (Remember each of the revolutionary minded student clubs have their own SDH club) but it falls REALLY quickly and he and a friend end up running- into the ABC barricade. Where... *sobs* you know.

I still followed your idea pretty much just with more details about how she specifically gets captured! I just think Paigé should be there when Benoît dies!!! DX
*cracks knuckles*
All right, folks, here's my sketchy ideas about what befalls our beloved revolutionaries on the barricades:

Okay, so for the most part I've got Enjolras doing what he does best - rallying people's spirits into a revolutionary fervor in the beginning, fighting with a patriotic gleam in his eye, etc. But then in the first quiet moment (musical-wise, the "Drink With Me" & "Bring Him Home" time) before the final stand where everything goes kaput and they're failing, that's when he's coming to grips with the fact that this movement is probably doomed and he urges those unwilling to stand further to slip away and save themselves, perhaps most prominently Nechole as he's realized exactly what he's inadvertently gotten her into. Because, as I've been trying to portray, Enjolras will try to convince people of this cause but never force them . . . so he will probably blame himself a good bit when he believes Nechole dead for the cause she firstly was resistant towards, but it won't be because he's strong-armed her into. I don't know a very good way to explain it in quick words, so hopefully what I've got in my head will be better portrayed during the RP . . .
*clears throat* Anyways.
In the same moment, after the talk with Nechole, I was thinking that he and Paige would sit together and talk. Not really sure what they'd talk about, but I am certain that this is the first moment when Enjolras would realize and accept (and maybe confess a little???? *smirks*) the attachment he's developed towards Paige. But of course, it will all be given in the light that he does not expect to live past tomorrow and he's still got Vive la Revolution! at the forefront of his mind. But, for him, it will be the most open he's ever been about these sort of things . . .
. . . which will lead into the sorrow he feels when both Nechole and Paige are seemingly killed on the barricade and he's left with dwindling numbers as the Guard advances. This will give him his martyr moment where he defiantly lifts the flag (just because I absolutely LOVE that moment in the movie/musical as it so perfectly captures everything about Enjolras in one moment . . . while simultaneously breaking my heart UGH) while standing by Grantaire (has anyone heard from them, anyways??) and prepared to die for his cause, as we've seen his determination from the start. So he goes down believing himself martyred for the freedom of France . . . except, he doesn't die.
Still shaky on these details, simply because I figured Enjolras would be unconscious for all or most of it, but next thing he remembers afters being shot is waking up in a hospital. At first he's kind of surreal about everything, thinking these his dying moments, but when reality hits home and he realizes he didn't die, that he's alive and nothing has changed, that's when the depression slams into him. Because for so long he's been fighting towards the goal of rising up against the tyranny, so when he does and it basically didn't do a thing, not like he'd thought and hoped it would, it's like everything that has been driving him was taken away, I mean it literally HAS been taken away, especially since all of his friends (I want him to be surprised when he hears that Marius is alive as well, perhaps even in the same hospital??), his sister, and Paige are dead while he's still alive. I'm basically thinking a slightly different angle on the feelings captured in "Empty Chairs" but obviously from Enjolras' POV, which would be slightly darker than Marius'?? idk I'm just reallyyyyyy rambling here trying to put my thoughts into legible form.
So then when he realizes that Paige and Nechole are alive (okay, which one is "saved" first?? help) that's when he regains a little bit of his drive, this time in a saving way towards those who have survived the barricades as well. And that's when what will be hinted at in the quiet moment between him and Paige on the barricades will come to a head, as he thought her lost but now that she's still alive, everything he didn't think he felt comes sweeping in and yeahhhhhhhh xD
So, that's all I've had in my head re barricades and the stuff during and after it. Thoughts?? Additions?? Edits??? bring em

I'm still thinking about how to save Percy, by the way, so any suggestions about that would be great xD
Most likely Nechole should be saved first since she’s not captured so it would make sense for her to be saved more easily than Paigé. I love the idea of him and Paigé having a moment and that would probably be best after Benoît has died because she’ll be mourning him greatly since he was like a brother and be more vulnerable than Enjolras has ever seen her which could compel him to sit and talk with her and try to keep her grounded and to save her sorrow once the battle is over. As for how to save Percy.... what happens to him that he needs saving? Is he injured or captured?
I don't know. He's the odd pacifist in their group, so I don't know if I want him to recant a little and stay with his friends til the bitter end OR he's one of the few who leaves and maybe tries to convince Nechole and the other girls and young boys (especially since this is after Gavroche's death) to come with him? I dunno.
*sniffles at my failed plots*
So here’s my Percy plan. He, being a pacifist, has Marius’s same problem- Marius happens to show up late, but at just the right time to get in- Percy doesn’t quite have his luck. He waited too long, and can’t make it to the ABC barricade. Maybe at this post he’s actually developed feelings for Nechole, sooo...anyway. For some reason or the other he decides to fight.
He winds up at the same barricade (the late-comers barricade, as I called it in the funeral post) as Archard
Uh-huh. I said Archard . POOR IDIOT FINALLY LEARNS TO STAND UP FOR HIMSELF! (Probably some yelling from his adored bro helped.) Anyway, de l’Aubespine people get wind of what Nechole’s up to, (prob thanks to some Leblanc tipoffs ) and are ready to completely take her from the Lindets (who are merchant nobility and therefore not worth much.) so Archard finally gets up the courage Jeanette always saw in him, and fights for the rights to his daughter and the love of his son. What happens from there...
-\(-_-)/- but we couldn’t have some pretty awesome conversation there.

Yay!!!! I like that! Also, this isn’t exactly important to the plot but I’m just adding it because.... I’ll explain after. So Paigé has her long hair that reaches down to almost her butt. However, before she is executed, they have to chop it all off to just below her chin so it won’t get in the way of her execution.
Now, like I said, not important, but I put it because yesterday I got over twelve inches cut from my hair. It used to be down to my butt and now, you guessed it, it’s just below my chin. This is a tiny idea I’ve had planned ever since we came up with the concept of Paige being captured and executed/almost executed. Didn’t remember it till after I cut my hair and I thought it was funny enough to share XD. With Enjolras and now the hair and just.... ugh, me and Paigé are WAAAAY too much alike.
Ahhhhh all of this plotting makes me want to skip ahead RIGHT NOW to the barricades . . . but at the same time I love the build-up. Ugh, confliction.
I know!
So I somewhat edited the general schedule, did we decide we wanted a successful revolution? That's what the polls said, but just in case someone changed their mind...

some itty-bitty questions: How does Enj get to a hospital?
What's Matelote doing? (yay. Acel. agh he will snap my heart into smithereens)
(and more but I have other things to be doing sooo....)

I HAVE AN IDEA OF HOW TO SAVE PAIGÉ!!! Now, it’s a bit out there tell me no if need be it’s just all I can think of XD DeTaunt pulls a few strings with his friends in higher power and calls in a few favors so that rather than executed, her sentence is changed to life long banishment and she goes to America?
I have no idea . . . I was hoping y'all could come up with something, maybe one of your characters helps him there? Since he'll be basically unconscious for most of it.
NOOO DON'T HAVE HER LEAVE FRANCE!!!!! They need to be around when the monarchy truly falls!!
NOOO DON'T HAVE HER LEAVE FRANCE!!!!! They need to be around when the monarchy truly falls!!
Mebbe we could have Archard and Percy show up at the barricade after their’s is successful to look for people, and they take him? And by this time Nechole’s gone and Enj tells them (when he wakes up) that he saw he’s dead? *cue more charrie torture*
YES I am with you on this, Seneca. Sorry, Fangirl, but we love Paige too much to let her run away from us.
AND WHAT WOULD SHE EVEN DO she’d probably be on the same boat as Thernardier and everyone knows how THAT would turn out. DX
Lol it was just an idea. I was gonna have DeTaunt or someone leave with her and then her come back years later after she’s made a better life for herself in America. But yeah, she doesn’t have to leave. As for her just escaping, considering she’s wounded and insanely ill and in top security (of the time period) for treason..... yeah, girl’s not escaping on her own. Sorry.
AGH NO FANGIRL NO TABI HELP ME SPARK REASON IN THIS HUMAN WHAT HOW NOT OUR DARLING HOW CAN WE SAVE HER PLEEEEAAAASSSSSEEEEEE......
Or she would get arrested and then actually be executed. If I can't think of a way to save her, I'll probably just let her be executed while all those who survived the Barricade watched sadly from the crowd. *shrugs casually*
FANGIRL WHY AREN'T YOU GOING WITH THE PREVIOUS PLAN OF THERE BEING A LIST OF THOSE TO BE EXECUTED FOR TREASON AND THEN WORD GETS THAT PAIGE IS ALIVE BUT PRISONER MEANT FOR SOON DEATH AND THUS ENSUES A MAD SCRAMBLE LED BY DETAUNT AND ENJOLRAS BECAUSE HEY HOORAY HIS REALIZED LADY-LOVE IS ALIVE I mean really, we've given these character's enough angst already.
Lol I’m following that plan. I just like making people freak out at the thought. Also, I was considering the notion of killing her for a long time like I do in my story but decided then I’d only have DeTaunt and didn’t want to do that. But yeah, That’s a good plan Tabi!!! Let’s do that!
SORRY!!! And I wasn’t exactly lying, I genuinely forgot we had already planned how she would be saved and so I was considering Enjolras seeing her being executed if we didn’t come up with something...... *hides from attacks*
O M G whyyyyyyyyy would you put him under such torment??? *gasps* I mean that's brilliant and I love the angst, but gosh darn it I want him to be happy, and executing Paige or sending her to America won't make this poor boy happy . . . and nah, it's all good here. I realize that my sarcasm and teasing doesn't transfer well via textual versus verbal *grins awkwardly*

YOU MADE ME PULL OUT THE JEHAN GIF WHICH BROKE MY HEART ALREADY WHHHYYYYYYYY *still weeping from shock*
jk jk
That's what I had happen in one of my WIPs and it broke my heart just writing it good heavens I didn't have to go through the trauma again XD (though actually (view spoiler)

Mine never does. DX
Mine never does. DX
When I get home I’ll try to edit the Barricades of Freedom page with that info. Most of the ABC boys are at Enjolras’ barricade at the Carpe Horas, Ben is at a quick falling one near the college district, Percy and Archard are at Rue St. Marie. Are we still doing successful revolution?
I thought we're doing failed but with prominent, non-canon survivors dealing with the after-effects of the failed revolution . . . who will then be alive for the true, effective revolution that happens, like, twenty years later? (I'm not sure on the dates for that.)
Yes, that was what we were going for, but then I checked the poll and apparently that isn’t what we voted for six months ago XD
And here’s where it came up https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
BUT LET’S STICK TO THE ORIGINAL IDEA Louis Phillips was actually a rather nice guy :) DON’T TELL ENJOLRAS
BUT LET’S STICK TO THE ORIGINAL IDEA Louis Phillips was actually a rather nice guy :) DON’T TELL ENJOLRAS
So I suddenly decided I want some Gaspard/Cecile angst at the barricade. DX Why do we torture ourselves and our characters so?
Here’s my idea: Cecile arrives separately from the barricade boys and takes up residence indefinitely in the attic of the Horas. From here she does a pretty work of sharp shooting, but no one realizes she’s up there until post-first-attack (the one that ends with “clear out or I’ll blow up the barricade “) because Gaspard keeps on almost getting killed and someone keeps on picking his adversaries off before they get a chance to bayonet him. Anyway, he ends up going up to the attic and finding her, saying something along the lines of “why the cannonball are you shooting these specific people when you hate me?” in characteristic Gaspard fashion. Cecile does her usual sarcastic question dodging until he gets ready to leave and says something like “unless you care about me, leave the battles to me,” and she responds with something like “of course I care about you, you are one of literally three people who care about me” and...
Again, really terribly outlined but oh well. And I have the best death scene planned for her... *weeps*

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOO BUT YES BUT NOOOOOOOOOO I SHIP THEM A LOT BUT UGH THEYRE GONNA DIE AND ITS GONNA BE TRAGIC AND I LOVE IT BUT ALSO THE DISNEY CHILD IN ME IS DEMANDING A HAPPY EVER AFTER ugh why do we do this to ourselves, yes!!
I KNOOOOWWW!!! And it shatters my heart just thinking about what we’ll put these babies through.
Any Matelote brainstorming?
Any Matelote brainstorming?
Not really. I know she'll be there, but more in a background supportive way, and more in the foreground after the barricades helping with the recovery and rebuilding
So mebbe, in the final surge, Matelote is near where Nechole's laid out and realizes she's alive, and she drags her out into the street on the other side of the cafe, where a frightened family opens their door for .5 seconds and lets them in? =everyone assumes they're still dead but has no idea where their bodies could have gone, also, they aren't there when Percy & Archard find Enjolras while looking for her... Maybe Acel discovers them?

Also where we will save those whom we cannot bear to leave us AKA when our fangirl hopes take over canon fact.
