Autumn, please add some plot details to your header. This could help your query get solved faster - you need it to stand out from all the others looking for YA sci-fi. If you are unable, a mod can help.

i looked at that one, it doesnt sound like it to me. the girl doesnt know that she is different at all and until something happens in the book to make her start remembering things, like pieces and fragmented bits. she has to get kidnapped i think before she actually knows herself what in heck is going on but for my life i cant think of it.
no... I think I remeber it, but I can't remember the name...There was this chip that was put there to specifically stop her from remembering... I wish I could say CINDER (Marissa Meyer), but I'm not sure...
I'm pretty sure it's Escape from Memory. It has the false relative and speaking Russian and being held captive and the computer chip in her head.
Cinder by Marissa Meyer - Mae's suggestion
Escape from Memory by Margaret Peterson Haddix - Rainbowheart's suggestion

What I do know: read it sometime 2002-2006 ish, borrowed from the library at a school, so no telling how old it is. The book is YA fiction, scifi type.
What I think I remember about the story: female first person point of view; the book had maybe a darkish grey color on the cover. I do not remember the author or the title at all. The girl is somewhat living out what she thinks is a normal lifestyle with another person (maybe an aunt??) and then one day, she is starting to remember bits and pieces of information or do things, that dont fit in with her normal life. I am sure i remember something mentioned about a microchip; and something to do with her realizing she speaks another language. she gets the previously mentioned family member to tell her what is going on, i think something triggered it, maybe a hit on the head or something but the chip is malfunctioning and she isnt supposed to remember but she is. she has a whole different identity but i dont even remember if the family member turned out to be real family or a caretaker? there was something to do with russian. there was also something to do with being locked up and not able to escape a captor but im not sure if that was one of the fragmented memories that were becoming unlocked or if that happened after she knew who she was. it was a long time ago, i'm sorry but thats all i got.
