Dani | 32 comments Hey guys looking for a contemporary (preferably suspenseful) romance book where the heroine is great with computers or any other technology. I'd prefer to avoid wallflowers and shy heroines but if the book is good I can overlook it. Bonus points if she's small or cute or otherwise appears as anything but a geek. I just read Finding Grace and would love to find more like it. Thanks!

Kell I Am | 184 comments Allison Brennan's Lucy Kincaid series. Lucy is a computer whiz applying to the FBI (in the first couple of books she's applying anyway) and while she's not small, she's not the typical computer geek either. Love Me to Death is the first in the series.

The Reading Raccoon (readingraccoon) | 143 comments Warcross

Warcross is really good. The main character is such a great hacker that her skills get noticed by the inventor of a popular virtual reality game and she’s plucked out of poverty and obscurity.

Ingo (ilembcke) | 669 comments Following this, and strongly recommend both, already read and reviewed.
Warcross was one of the best books read in 2017, a year where I managed to select a few real bad duds to read.
And while I am currently a few books behind, Lucy Kincaid is also one of my favorite series.

Ingo (ilembcke) | 669 comments Just started the sequel to Warcross, Wildcard and it instantly draws me in. Was just published and I had it pre-ordered. Would really like more books like that.

Gillian | 342 comments The woman isn't the computer whiz, she's a police sergeant, but computers and technology definitely plays a part! Halting State by Charles Stross.

If you like humour in your story try Go Fetch! by Shelly Laurenston. This is the third book in a trilogy, and the MC appears in the other 2 books in a minor way.

She's small and works 2 jobs (a bookstore and as a bartender if I'm remembering correctly) to support herself. In the first 2 books she's also working on either her master's or her ph.d. (Sorry, been a while since I read the book). She's human and her romance partner is extremely tall (he's referred to as a Viking in several places because of his appearance.) He's also a werewolf. It's a fun story and the MC is not only a hacker, she's also a total hoot. Texas girls have more fun!

rue | 42 comments Don't Turn Around is a YA, but there is some romance throughout the book, and a lot of suspense.

There are a few books I truly loved with a hacker heroine, a couple are romantic suspense, but some of them are from genres you may not be interested in like pnr, sfr, or m/m romance. I'll list them anyway since you mentioned liking "Go Fetch" by Shelly Laurenston, which does indeed have a super smart and quirky heroine...

Edge of Control (Edge Security #1) by Trish Loye Edge of Control by Trish Loye is one of my all time favs (romantic suspense)

The Witness by Nora Roberts The Witness by Nora Roberts (romantic suspense)

Boiling Point (Crossing the Line, #3) by Tessa Bailey Boiling Point by Tessa Bailey is a great series about a group of elite criminals, hackers, cons, and thieves that were recruited (forced) to work for the cops. Up in Smoke is the best in the series.

Here are some great paranormal/sci-fi hackers:

Enforcer (Cascadia Wolves, #1) by Lauren Dane Enforcer by Lauren Dane,
Electric Heart (Dark Planet Warriors, #7) by Anna Carven Electric Heart by Anna Carven
Darrok (Kaldar Warriors, #2) by T.J. Yelden Darrok by T.J. Yelden
Enforcer (Battle Born, #11) by Cyndi Friberg Enforcer by Cyndi Friberg
Masked by M. Greenhill Masked by M. Greenhill
Mercury's War (Breeds, #12; Feline Breeds, #10) by Lora Leigh Mercury's War by Lora Leigh (it's not the main plot but the heroine is a hacker).

Lastly, one of my fav hacker characters is from

Full Domain (Nice Guys, #3) by Kindle Alexander Full Domain by Kindle Alexander (m/m cop+hacker romance). Sloane Kennedy also has a few m/m books with bodyguard+hacker pairings. I hope you find at least one book you like from this list.

Dani | 32 comments Thanks for the recommendations they look great! I don't really have a preference of genre as long as there's some romance :)

Oh, then if m/m is OK, Layla Reyne's Agents Irish and Whiskey series (beginning with Single Malt) has this trope.

Sophie Oliver (LeseratteSN) | 11 comments Last Kiss by Jessica Clare. But it has some darker themes, which is not everyone‘s cup of tea.

Rosa (rosaiglarsh) | 5379 comments Emma-Jean Lazarus Fell Out of a Tree is YA, but it’s great.
