Luke (korrick) | 2004 comments The Mists of Avalon, Marion Zimmer Bradley, 1983, United States, NOVEL

""There is no such thing as a true tale. Truth has many faces and truth is like to the old road to Avalon; it depends on your own will and your own thoughts, whither the road will take you."...Viviane is the Lady of the Lake, the magical priestess of the Isle of Avalon, a special mist-shrouded place which becomes more difficult to reach as people turn away from its nature- and Goddess-oriented religion..."

(G.B., p. 185)

Jonpaul There's been controversy about how to approach her work in light of allegations that the late author may have been sexually abusive.

Luke (korrick) | 2004 comments Yes, this work is but the most recent in the line of 500 BBGW that are problematic. I hope that these discussions provide a space for meaningful debate over such matters, for there's no use for the moniker "Great Books By Women" if no one challenges it every so often.
