Just started the audio.. Juggling the audio for Jurassic Park as well because I fell super behind.

I wasn't sure at first that I was going to get into this story. But after (view spoiler)[ she discovered Aled is the creator (hide spoiler)] I'm officially intrigued to see where the story goes. I've heard this book has so queer rep so I'm anxious to learn more about each of the characters!

So, Daniel has very much come into the story. And I now, officially love him. He is such a real character and I feel so connected to him (Other than he's really smart and loves school) lol. (view spoiler)[ I liked this one and absolutely adored the friendships and the characters within it. At times it felt a little slow but that tends to happen with more character driven plots. Aled was such a heartbreaking character in the second half of this, it really hurt to witness his sadness. My favorite part overall though aside from his friendship with Frances was how close Frances and her mom were - super cute! (hide spoiler)]

I like Frances's character, and can actually sort of relate to her. This is one book where I'll really need to pay attention to the chapter titles, because I completely missed the "Future" title lol. Omg Frances fangirling over Universe City is so adorable!

Up until now, it's feeling so much similar to Eliza and Her Monsters. Frances is becoming more relatable with each passing chapter.
And Aled.., alcohol can really do wonders sometimes.
I really like it that we are getting a sort of nice mother-daughter relationship. Otherwise, contemporaries usually don't give a second thought to family dynamic. (hide spoiler)]

Yes, I agree that the air of mystery was better, it's just that I so want to know. I do think that leaving it up to the reader's imagination was better, though.

It's 1 am right now and I don't see a chance of getting any sleep..this book really hit the spot. So different from all the contemporaries I've read so far.
(view spoiler)[ I think it was a nice decision to pick this up right after Eliza and Her Monsters. I loved seeing how these creative teens manage to make these metaphorical fantasy/sci-fi tales resonate with their own lives..
However, this one had a kinda serious tone throughout the book. Some parts did seem a bit overdramatic to me. But even then, it was a very engrossing story.
My favorite part was reading Universe City transcripts. (hide spoiler)]
