I am intrigued by your post, and I'd love for you to get in touch with me. It sounds as if maybe you would benefit from a content edit before you move on to line editing, in order for you to get a good amount of story feedback and be able to implement any changes before tackling grammar, etc.
I don't live near Atlanta, but I'd be happy to have some Skype sessions to discuss the project.
Check out my website at www.emilynemchickediting.com and get in touch via my contact form if you would like to discuss the project with me further.
All the best!

I come in search of a fiction editor unbound by convention, someone who can approach a work unhindered by prior expectations of how a book 'should' be.
Specifically, I'm looking for someone to help me refine a novel whose manuscript I've recently completed, a deep and intricate murder-mystery that weaves through action, suspense, poetry, religious satire, romance, erotica, scifi, horror-fantasy, and plenty of comedy. I'll warn you up front; this is an ambitious undertaking. I want this book to stand out as an iconoclastic classic that defies traditional constraints of what storytelling 'should' be. For example, a key theme of the book is about liberation from one's established ideas of reality- if you have years of experience as an editor who breezes through books via rote reaction to any deviation, come not hither. This book is meant as a deviation from 'just another book.'
The services I wish rendered, beyond line-editing, is to polish the story to a shine, getting an outside perspective on character motivation, voice, story details, and plot points, someone who can help me make sure all a reader's questions are answered, all the key facts accessible, and all-in-all that the audience has an entertaining, uplifting, rewarding experience from their time invested. High risk, success uncertain, glory likely.
To answer the next question you're being politely hesitant about; I want to get my money's worth from whomever I take on as an editor, and I intend to make it worth your while. Editing skill is an expensive asset, and I want someone with an abundance.
Bonus points if you're around Atlanta and can meet in person.
Please disregard the posted book, it's an unedited version I printed as Christmas presents and it reads like it was written by a 27-year-old. I have the full work (sans final chapter) on Google Drive that I can link to whomever asks.
Thanks, and good luck!
