Oops, sorry! It's a young adult novel in which a new guy moves into town and meets the protagonist because they have the same car and she thinks he's stealing her car. In the novel, she's part of the school's production of West Side Story and all I remember is that the title is somewhere along the lines of "Things I have to do..."
