ABANDONED. YA magic-real historical set in a foreign country with two protagonists - prince and servant girl - trying to end a curse on the prince's family

I remember enjoying this book but not much else about it. It contained:
- an aristocratic/royal family with a curse on them
- two protags trying to solve the curse by appeasing the (dead) person that cast it
- a scene where one of them stole a book from a library
- an older mentor figure who was kept in the dark, but eventually found out the truth and helped them
- the prince protag and the mentor figure being bagged and disoriented, then introduced to a supernatural figure that had info on the curse. I think it was a werewolf, but maybe a vampire
- i vividly remember the servant-girl protag climbing a tree to watch a funeral. no idea why

Not sure where this story was set because I was quite young when I read it, but possibly the Middle East (I think I remember name structures that fit).

I think the title involved a character's name, eg. The Curse of Someone-Someone.
