Diane | 13052 comments Post your nominations here for the April group reads. A significant portion of the book must be set in the featured location. We will be reading books set in Belarus and the province of Quebec in Canada. We will also be featuring travel literature translated to English. Here are lists to get you started:

Belarus*:
Belarus Book List: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Bookshelf: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...

Quebec:
Canada Book List https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... (Scroll down to "Books set in Quebec" heading-Posts 13 & 14)
Bookshelf: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...

Translated Travel Lit:
Note: Book must be originally written in a language other than English. Many foreign authors write books in English - these would not qualify. Here is a list with a few examples of translated travel literature, feel free to add more links:

Books do not need to be present on these lists to be nominated. Authors, please do not nominate your own books.

For a list of books we have read in previous months, click here: Previously Read Group Read Books

*For our featured world country selection (this month it is Belarus): If the book selected by popular vote is not written by a native or resident author, the book written by a native author with the highest votes will also be selected, resulting in two book selections for that country.

Cheryl | 958 comments For Belarus, I'd like to nominate Alpine Ballad by Vasil Bykaŭ. I haven't read but it looks interesting.

Mome_Rath | 1861 comments For translated travel literature, I'd propose The Travels of Ibn Battutah by Ibn Battuta, since it has been on my reading list for a while.

Just to let you know that this book takes place in Toronto, Ontario, not Quebec, Carol. I live in Toronto and actually know the places he is talking about, which doesn't happen very often with the books that I am reading.
It's a good one, too.
