It's not really an error in facts. I believe Ward's point was to sort of "jump ahead" a bit to show that Z had his kid just give some closure to it and then come the start of the next book, she went back to the regular timeline in the next book. Some book series will do that just to give you a sneak peak of future events but will still follow the same timeline they started with.

Part of what makes this series so good is Ward's ability to "jump ahead" and behind. The books esp at the beginning of the series were very interlinked.

What u read in Z's book was the epilogue which was set a bit in the future to show he did have his child and all was well with him.

When Ward started this series, she was only contracted for 3 books and at the time wasn't sure if she would be able to continue the series. So she opted for a more solid close with Zsadist. Especially since he's her fave. But when she started book 4, she just decided to stick to the current time line starting from book one.

So it's not an error. Alot of authors do this with series' books. Especially when each book has different main characters as the focus.
