Anthropologist Jillian Ramsay's career has taken a turn south.

Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations. Mermaids and gator shifters swim in the bayou. Spirit bottles light the front porches after twilight. Dragons light the fires under crayfish pots.

Jillian's first assignment for the League could be her last. Mystic Bayou is wary of outsiders, and she has difficulty getting locals to talk to her. And she can't get the get gruff town sheriff, Bael Boone, off of her back or out of her mind. Bael is the finest male specimen she's seen in a long time, even though he might not be human. Soon their flirtation is hotter than a dragon's breath, which Bael just might turn out to be....

I think this may be available only in audio but if you check it out let us know what you think!

Sandra | 4734 comments She's got a few that seem to only be available in audio. It's a shame really, cause not everyone uses audio. Me included.

Jenn | 65 comments myself also, I'm not into audio and I would have liked to read this

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments When I selected this one I thought it was both (book and audio). I decided to keep it for folks who love audio or want to try audio.
I must admit not a big audio fan but I do enjoy this narrator.

message 5: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4734 comments I know there are a lot of audio fans out there, so hopefully someone reads it and lets us know what its like :)

message 6: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I really like this author and only buy her books in audio as the narrator she uses, Amanda Ronconi, is one of the best. This book however has 2, her normal, Amanda, and a guy, who isn't good. Everybody that I talked to doesn't like his part.

I found the book to be so so. I liked the community, it was quirky, but the couple were meh...at best. Not sure at this point if I thought that because of the story itself or the dual narrators or if it was a combination of both. Overall I felt like this book wasn't one of the author's best.

I have a feeling this book will be out in other formats after 6 months or so. Quite a few books written specifically for audible tend to be like that, exclusive in audio for a bit, then they go format wide after a while.

Sandra | 4734 comments That's good to know Darcy, though not so good re your reaction to the male narrator & story.

message 8: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I would say if you aren't a fan of audios to wait til this comes out in different formats and then even wait til a sale to grab it or get your library to purchase it.

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Thanks Darcy!

That is surprising about the male narrator.

Agreed!

message 12: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I finished this one last month and I must admit the male narrator threw me like I could not figure out the point of it.
The story was cute but it is not a favorite.
