Okay so i messed up the daughter and the mom, the theories were supposed to be for the mom. They somehow were keeping an eye on the house so if iris was involved she could have gotten a maid to help her? Possibly flora?(view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ This is actually a good theory and I never even thought about that. They claim to never have found her body. So this is definitely possible. The daughter being a teacher would be such a good plot twist. (hide spoiler)]

So I looked it up, and she was 3 when she went missing and the book took place in 2020. So she would be 23 at the time of the story.(view spoiler)[ Very possible she could be a teacher there. (hide spoiler)]

However, she could have been having an affair or something since they have already stated that she didnt like it there but wanted to support her husband. (view spoiler)[okay slight change to the theory as i mixed up the mom and the daughter. The daughter is 3 at the time of the kidnapping and the flora scene was regarding some ( potentially) illegal secret of the mother because of the way flora was trying to hide that thing from the police and was lying about why she was in the room. We know the mom was a professional swimmer and was unhappy moving to the mountain(the police guy says so in the interview) so maybe she had enough and kind of did that? Or maybe there was an unhappy relationship between them? It's possible the daughter survived (she'd be 83 in present timeline) and she had successers who are involved in the present day murder. Iris ends up dead though. Maybe the body was faked? And she lived? Or she must have taken help from someone for this whole ordeal and they turned on her? Albert dies because his yatch exploded. What if truly devious killed him in the yatch and made it seem like an accident? And the plan was to raise the daughter and use her to take over the school and inheritance but that wasn't possible for some reason?

Those pictures could have been passed down as a momento to Ellie. But the police searched through the room, could they have missed the box? Or maybe it was planted there for Stevie to find?
