Hey Reece, that's intriguing. The great thing about fiction in particular books is that as long as the reader can emotionally connect/relate to the character(s), they don't mind if the characters themselves are humans.

We have seen that in works of fiction like Jungle Book, Frankenstein, Dracula, multitude of Pixar/Disney movies.

Also checkout the concept "Suspension of disbelief". When a novel succeeds in telling a compelling story, readers will involuntarily suspend their disbelief. This concept isn't exclusive to books though.

Also I sense that you have your heart in this idea. Any idea is worth writing by the person who values and believes in it the most.

Your only challenge will be the one which everyone face irrespective of how good an idea is: the process of writing and finishing a novel itself. Which I guess you will be there with time and patience.
