I saw her and Patricia Briggs in a joint panel at Emerald City Comic Con last Spring and although she didn't say much, it feels like she has a lot of exciting plans for this world.

1. When they killed, and then ate scraps of um....the stalker guy. Then went and rolled/ate mint to get rid of "human breath" before they saw Meg.

2. The turkey! The whole picture of a wolf carrying a giant turkey across the street and ringing the doorbell, etc. Priceless.

That whole turkey scene was pretty great. They did something nice for their human pack and didn't think how different the humans would view it. Then Elliot saying to Twyla - at least you don't have to pluck out the feather with your teeth :P (hide spoiler)]

And done. I think I enjoyed it more this time than the first time even. Jimmy (view spoiler)[ really was too stupid to live. Ha I kept hoping he'd suffer, and I think he did. However, I also wish at some point he would have realized how totally dumb he was.

It was sad to just get a kiss at the end vs. more, but I love that they decided they are mates. I sure hope we see them again in future books. At least a brief visit! (hide spoiler)]

I'm not much for re- reading because there are so many books I haven't read but I could re -read this again. I wonder what I would notice on a re read say 6 months from now.

One other part I found really funny (can't remember which chapter) -

(view spoiler)[I am glad that Sierra left and did what was best for her children. It took long enough. It was a good thing that she was backed into a corner and had to chose between her children and Jimmy.
Jimmy is a self serving jerk. It looks like Clarence has learned too much from his dad. I'm not sure if Fanny was a look out fear or not.
I do love Twyla. She is a wonderful addition to Simon's pack. Love how the children learn to only test her once before they realize that she won't bend. (hide spoiler)]

I need to vent about Jimmy (view spoiler)[I am so tired of how he refers to women. Now Clarence is doing the same and has the same mean streak. I really want to throw a knife at a certain part of his anatomy every time he says it. I can't remember what exactly happens to him, but I really hope he and Clarence gets eaten. (hide spoiler)]

Yes - Jimmy and Clarence pushed all my buttons. We went from kind of the impersonal stupid group of people in the last book to two specific people to hate.

(view spoiler)[-I love Twyla! I think it's funny how Simon backs down to her. One of my favorite scenes was when she escorted Skippy to the pot luck dinner.

-Henry was really brave when he confronted the Elders with wanting Jimmy to stay even after Simon wanted him to leave. At least they fixed their screw up. It was a shame that Meg got hurt.

-I started tearing up when Simon realized Meg was gone and thought she was lost to him.

-When meg started having nightmares after the damage Jimmy did, I liked the one thing she always would see. I kind of wished it would have shown more of Meg and Simon's relationship after they officially became a couple. I find it interesting that Simon did not know if he and Meg could have children. With the Elders wondering if the world was ready for a new terra indigene, it makes me wonder if in future books there will be a mention of Meg being pregnant.

Not sure how I feel about the school that Clarence is being sent to. The only good thing is that if he acts up, the punishment will be severe. Still want him to die. At least Francis has a chance at a life without fear. (hide spoiler)]

I agree with you Ora. (view spoiler)[ Sierra leaving was the best thing she could have done since it was obvious she could not stand up to Jimmy. Removing herself from the situation as best for her and her kids. I still, however, feel like she should have at least said something to her mom. Twyla wouldn't have stopped her. The way she left kind of made it seem like she washed her hands of all her family and not just Jimmy. (hide spoiler)]

I agree it is a much safer way, and a way for her to fight her addiction to the euphoria of a cut.

The start of this book reminds me of the situation after a war or large battle (which this technically was); everybody trying to adapt to their new reality, figuring out how to move forward.

Anybody else enjoying some of the descriptions in these books? Exploding fluffballs, bunnies with teeth, howling not-Wolf etc =)=)

Some thoughts on characters:

Sierra: Anybody else who wanted to shake some sense into this girl?! (view spoiler)[It is so frustrating that no matter what they say it doesn't get through to her. The only thing that redeems her a bit in my eyes is that she finally decides to put her girls before Jimmy, running away with them at night without telling anyone.
I can somewhat relate since I was doing something similar with one of my ex-boyfriends, but it didn't take long before my friends and family managed to talk some sense into me... (hide spoiler)]

Twyla: She is a bad-ass old lady! She manages to be sensible no matter if it hurts her, as long as it is in the best interest of her kids.

I can't believe I missed this BR! I love Meg & Simon's relationship. Twyla was the other star of this book. She was so wonderful with Skippy in the potluck meal scene that I cried a little.

I think my fave thing about these books, which Cathy mentioned above, is that they are so good that even though I know I'm reading a detailed section of someone's work day or other mundane task, I still read every word. I'm sad about Meg & Simon ending but it's a great place to stop. There's space for revisit and it hasn't gotten to the point of such extreme repetition that it's a caricature (e.g. Anita Blake or dare I say the Fever series).

The ending was so good! Though I would have liked to continue on with Meg and Simon as main characters, they are adorable!

I haven't read the synopsis for Lake SIlence yet, but I'm guessing I will be reading that one too:P
