Have you considered Louis L'Amour and his books ? If he likes Jack Reacher, might be an idea to suggest Vince Flynn's "Michael 'Mitch' Rapp"

Stephen Hunter's Bob Lee Swagger series about a retired Marine sniper would fit right in with the Jack Reacher series.

It is not a series, but he might enjoy News of the World. It is set in 1870 Texas, & could be compared to True Grit to some degree. It's not a long book, just 209 pages, but I gave it 4.5 stars, & westerns are not my favorite style. Only read a dozen or so. I just started Jack Reacher series.

If you want to suggest something a little different.....try Ken Follett ... I haven't tried it but my dad seemed to like it.

There is a new series about Joe Reacher that has come out. Joe Reacher Not Dead Yet, ISBN: 979-8-9864175-0-9. The next book in the series, Dead Man Walking comes out in August. They deliver background on early Reacher but follow his brother's West Point, Army and Treasury career before Killing Floor. A little more Clancy in style but easy reads...

Parker series. First one is called The Hunter by Richard Stark. Author is Donald Westlake using a pen name. I liked them and Reacher.
The James Bond books, has he read any Raymond Chandler?
Also the Bosch series by Michael Connelly, haven't read them but they seem similar.
