Nicole D. | 1573 comments I don't know what to say about this book. It was harsh and sad, but then there was Jojo though a victim of the harshness and sadness, he was the embodiment of love.

Reminded me of Beloved.

Susie It has stayed strongly in my mind.

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 1532 comments Do you guys think it would be a good F2F bookclub pick. It’s my turn next to pick, and this was on my short-list.

Glad to know that, I had no idea what to say.

Not sure, JoLene, seems like people have a hard time talking about it. But there are some interesting things to discuss.

Anita Pomerantz | 9298 comments Wow. I need to find a way to get to this, magical realism or not, just to know what everyone is talking about!

Susie Anita, I think for this one you might find the magical realism ok. Fingers crossed!

I own the book but am afraid to read it. Given all the varied comments I have read on Goodreads, I am not sure how I will react to the story. Plus, I often don't do well with magical realism.

Tracy (tstan) | 1261 comments I felt it was more of a ghost story, and the ghost was symbolic. It’s really hard to explain without spoilers... Regardless, it is a wonderful book!
