message 157: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (sgiffin) | 146 comments Quick check-in. I'm hoping to finish both The Bat (Australia) and A Criminal Defense (legal-thriller) tomorrow, and then over the weekend I'm going to take one for the team and try to fill in the '1-star' and 'hated' shelves... it took me forever to find books to fit these, but they are happily both on Kindle Unlimited

Shifting Shadows - hated
Wedded to the Warriors - 1-star

I also found some fairly popular books to fill in some other missing shelves, but though I actually own all three, I'm not sure I can get to them (if anyone has any interest, go for it)

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two - 3-stars
City of Bones - 4-stars
Switched - nook

I didn't figure out what was going on until about 94%, lol. My favorite by Gillian Flynn so far. I think I might watch the movie tonight, but only if I can get thought the last 40% of Starvation Heights: A True Story of Murder and Malice in the Woods of the Pacific Northwest.

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments Claire wrote: "Case Histories could be put under UK.i’m now reading Silas Marner"

I put Case Histories under 2017. UK isn't a shelf we are working with, it has to be United-Kingdom. I'm looking to see where we can put Silas Marner, I will probably put it under currently -reading, since the shelves for one of Debras books have disappeared?

EDIT: I put Silas Marnar under 2016.....I think we're good with Debras book, maybe a glitch on the page.

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments Hi all- I just went through and double checked all of our read book shelves for accuracy. Everything looks good, except one book seems to have lost its shelves :-(

I put out a question for the mods in the main ATY Book Shelf Challenge thread. Not sure what happened there.

Good job reading. I'm going to hit the books for a little while now I have about 100 pages of my second book to read. Will update later on tonight.

I enjoyed the book but in some parts it seemed to fall flat for me. I can't seem to put a reason for that but overall it was a good book.

It helps when the husband's at work and I'm all caught up on my grading!

(That's a lie. I am not anywhere near caught up. But if I keep telling myself that I am, maybe the guilt of spending all day reading will go away?)

OMG I have a mile high pile of papers on my desk to grade....
Actually, I DID grade them on Monday, but that was the day I finally went to the ER. I was sitting at my desk thinking I WILL GET THESE GRADES IN BEFORE I DIE, lol. and i piled up all the graded papers for the students to collect when I went home....got to work wednesday and none of the grades had saved. So I had to collect everything back and now the whole pile is back on my desk waiting to be re-entered :-(

I'm alternating between chapters of this god awful book I'm slowly finishing, and hanging out with the kiddos. I have less than 100 pages left.

That's the stuff of nightmares! I've graded most of their big assignments, but it's the small little ones that have been getting to me..

That being said, I may try to tackle another book today, since Simon obviously went quicker than expected and I can't count student essays towards this Read-A-Thon!

Stephanie (scharle4) | 94 comments Ugh! I am so sorry all—I have not been putting in my weight as I have had horrible migraines all week. I finished Killers of the Flower Moon and Far From the Tree audiobook. I am almost finished with Turtles All the Way Down (audiobook). I am beginning the Hate U Give today if I can see straight soon.

I'm picking up Murder on the Orient Express and I should be able to finish it by noon tomorrow. It doesn't fit any of the available shelves that we haven't used yet, but it fits quite a few that we have used, so you may need to shuffle a bit, if that's possible.

It fits:

Own
Series
To-Buy
Wishlist
5-Stars
4-Stars
Fiction
Historical
Mystery
Audiobook
Kindle
Library
