searching by isbn/what is context?

It's always being suggested to me that I search by isbn. HOW?!?! If you put a 13 or 10 digit isbn # into any search box anywhere, goodreads is sublimely stupid. In trying to post this question to a pubic forum at goodreads, I'm being told that my context field is blank. THERE IS NO CONTEXT FIELD.
