It's a story about a boy from another planet.
His home planet can be covered by three of a certain type of huge tree. So if they find a seed or plant of it, they will immediately destroy it.
When this boy asks a question, he never forgets it, but keeps pressing for an answer.
He meets another boy in a desert like area and shares his experience of travelling to different planets. This is how the story goes in the book.
In the end, the boy asks a snake to bite him and he dies.
I read this between 2004 - 2011. Seemed like a fairly old book.

I read a translation. Not sure if the original book is in English.

It's not exactly covered by the trees - baobabs (they can split and destroy small planets like little prince's): the seeds are in the soil, so he has to regularly weed them out "at the very first moment when they can be distinguished from the rosebushes".
