Good morning, team!
I figured I'd quickly get our thread started before I rush off to work and drop by to properly introduce myself later.
Looking forward to playing with you all!

message 3: by Denise, Manufacturing Director (new)

Denise (destiny_chan) | 7414 comments Mod
So, now I have time to do an actual introduction. :)

Hi everyone, I'm Denise and I'll be your captain on this flight for this challenge. I'm 30 (for another 8 days at least), originally from Germany but have been living in Finland since 2008 (and around this time every year, I'm seriously asking myself why I ever thought that a good idea), and if I didn't have to go to this pesky work thing every day, I'd probably spend the entire winter curled up in front of the fireplace with my cats and a pile of books.
I read a lot and from a large variety of genres, though favourites tend to be fantasy/sci-fi, historical fiction, mystery/thriller, and M/M romance.

The challenge already starts on Wednesday, so it'd be great if everyone could check in by tomorrow. I'm in timezone GMT+2 which puts me 9 hours ahead of "game time", so I'll send out pms to anyone who hasn't checked in yet when I go to sleep tomorrow, then hopefully everyone will have found their way here by the time we start.

If anyone's got ideas for our team name, let's hear them! I'll try to come up with some suggestions too.

message 4: by Lanelle, Production Chief (new)

Lanelle | 20528 comments Mod
Captains, feel free to send a message to any of your team members who haven't checked in. I haven't been getting notifications from Goodreads. Maybe your teammate hasn't seen that teams have been posted.

You can start reading tomorrow!

message 5: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments Hello!

Sorry for the delay. I saw the thread open the other day but waited to post in case the captain and spreadsheet person wanted to reserve spots.

I read pretty much everything but hard-core erotica, m/m and Christian fiction or anything too chick-lit. Also not a YA fan so I will likely try to avoid that category. The only YA I read is the occasional Harry Potter/Percy Jackson type book. I don't ever read YA or New Adult romance. Although I might read a YA mystery.

I'm 47 and I live in Massachusetts. I average 1-2 books a week, although due to another team challenge, I've been getting 3 in per week so far this year.

message 6: by Denise, Manufacturing Director (new)

Denise (destiny_chan) | 7414 comments Mod
Yay, I'm no longer alone! :D

I average about 1-2 books a day (so I don't have a life, so what? :P), so if you end up with a YA thing I can read one for you, I've got a pile of them lying around. :)

Jade aka MrsTosh (mrstosh) | 1347 comments Thanks for the tag Denise, I seem to be having problems lately with notifications:(

Looks like it's a universal problem. Glad you found your way here! :)

It's on!

The game has officially started, so it's time to pick your starting categories and roll for your first dates. :)

A few organisational things:

- Please maintain one continually updated post collecting all your dates rather than making a new post for each one. This will make it easier to keep an overview. I'll put links to each team member's collection post into the first post in this thread so they'll be easy to find.

- If you end up with a category you're not keen on or don't have a book for, ask for someone to read it for you in a new post.

- Please use the following template for your dates:
Mystery Date #:
Category:
Roll:
Requirement:

Proof:
Finished:

Jade, you're our designated spreadsheet person, would be great if you could get the spreadsheet started as soon as you have time! :)
