The book was some sort of suspense....I don’t really remember which story line the book was but seems to me it may have been either a man or girl and had to do with a house that had burned down. Very well might not be correct. I read a lot of books when I was younger. The part that stands out is the short story at the beginning. Someone ate a bunch of pot brownies and decided to leave the house. He thought the cars were talking to him. Then he was at a park and there was something about digging a hole then dirt raining down on him, making me think he was being buried but that’s where the short story ended. It was written so it was difficult to tell if he was thinking all this or if he thought someone else was talking to him because he was high. I read this in paperback in probably 1985/86. I’m guessing it was early to mid 80’s. Please help! This has been driving me nuts for years!

It was probably somewhere in California. And it was written as current, so I'd say early-mid 80's. I really don't remember much about the actual book....it's the short story at the beginning. The story was maybe 10 pages (I could be way off, it was a long time ago!) and it was a totally separate story from the rest of the book. Different characters and everything. I'm not even sure any of what I think might be the actual book is the right one, but the short story was very weird and memorable so I'm hoping that helps. It is really mostly what I'm interested in anyway.

Thanks! Definitely adult! I wish I could remember what the actual book was about! All I can remember is the short story at the beginning that had nothing to do with the book…it was just a little extra.
