1 book (from any category) = 1 date.
You can stick to one category for the whole challenge, or go with any category that feels interesting at the time.

Of course foreign books will count. If you could translate the proof, that would be great.

That will depend on how many folks sign up for the challenge. I'm hoping for 5 - 6 in each team.
"Do audiobooks count?"
Yes.

If I were to say yes to captain, is there a lot of computer work? Just asking because I do most of my GR challenges with my mobile and we all know that is not the easiest thing to do.
Thanks! The challenge sounds like fun!
I imagine the captain's duties would be head cheerleader, decision maker, doublechecker of book's pages, keeping track of the team members, and coordinator with scorekeeper.
The only time where a captain might need to do computer work is to set up the team's reporting thread. Maybe that could be done with a mobile. I'm not sure. I can start a team's thread if needed.

Thanks! This helps! :)

Does everyone get to roll the dice in the beginning?
What I mean is once a team has been assembled, the team chooses a category and then everyone reads?
Or does each team member pick a category, roll the dice, and then read their chosen book?

Each member picks their own category and rolls a die to find a book to read.

Is it possible for one person to read from one category twice?"
Yes. A person could read from just category for the whole time if they wanted to.

I get my books from the library, so if I have to wait until Jan 24 to ROLL, and then still get to the library to find the book that puts me behind.
Same with book # 2 ... if I can roll the die in advance, I can request the book so it's read for me to start it when I finish book # 1 ... etc.
Fun game!

Can more than one team member be reading a book for the same category, same die roll at the same time.
For example, let's say I'm looking at Category age, and I've rolled a 1 ... so reading a book with a child main char. Can one (or more) of my teammates who have also rolled a 1, also be reading a book with a child main char?
Can it be the SAME book?
Book Concierge wrote: "QUESTION: Can we roll the die in advance? "
Yes, you can. I don't mind if you roll several times so you can prepare.
Book Concierge wrote: "Fun game! "
Thanks. I'd kind of like to join the challenge :)

It's okay if team members read for the same category, the same die roll, or even the same book. Buddy read!

♥ The game will conclude February 14 at 12:59 p.m. (MST)
That is one minute before 1:00 p.m. (i.e. afternoon) Or did you mean to type 11:59 p.m. (i.e. one minute before midnight?)

I mean one midnight before midnight. Thanks for catching that. I'll change the rules.

Lanelle, could you send out a broadcast to everyone that teams have been posted and players should check in?
I've already sent pms where possible, but one of my team members (Genevive) is using an author profile, so I can't message her.

A review is not necessary. A completion post is fine.

The book isn't any more specific than that? What are you thinking of reading?

Jodi wrote: "@Lanelle, one of my team mates wanted to read Wildfire by Ilona Andrews. (sorry can't insert links from my phone)"
From what I can see on the internet, the main character of Wildfire is Nevada Baylor. She is 25-years-old. Which character in the story does your team mate think is "really old"?

Denise wrote: "Can we quote from the blurb for the proof?"
Sometimes the blurb is misleading or incorrect. I would rather the proof come from the text of the book.

Ah. I remember reading that he fought in the Mexican-American War (1846 to 1848). Citing that he fought in that war would be proof.

The main character must: 1 - live in Europe?

The main character must: 1 - live in Europe?"
That's a tough question. It depends. Here's the Wikipedia answer: "...the western part of Russia is considered to be a part of eastern Europe.
The other, much larger, but sparsely populated eastern part of the country is considered to be a part of northern Asia..."
The article has a nice map to show you which places are considered Europe or Asia. We need to find out where in Russia the book is set to see if it counts as Europe.

A couple more questions:
Are re-reads okay?
And would non-fiction books work for this challenge? I'm thinking memoir/biography/autobiography stuff, in which essentially the author/subject would be the main character. Random example: Something like The Dark Side: Real Life Accounts of an NHS Paramedic for the "MC works in a medical profession" category?

Ezinwanyi wrote: "If I rolled a “2”, does that mean i can’t roll a “2” again or just read a different category?"
You can roll a 2 again. For my first 'date', I picked the Location category and rolled a 5. My second 'date', I went with the Location category again, and then rolled another 5. It's fine.
