Maya's notebook - Spoiler-free discussion

I am ready to continue this book club now that I have got my life quite organized. Even though this book club is both mine and Mil's, she is not ready to return yet, which is why I chose the book I am currently reading as our January book.

Maya's Notebook is about Maya, a teenage girl that moves to an island off the coast of Chile due to her previous poor life choices. We start by not knowing much about what went on before this moving point and receive bits and pieces along the read.

I am currently almost half way through the book and my favourite aspect of it so far is how we get caught in this read due to our desire to know more and more about Maya's past.

What do you think about that? Is that an aspect that you like or do you prefer to know everything in a chronological way?
