Noa Sperber | 9 comments This series was published 2000-2010ish. The covers were cartoony, and my editions were those cool textured ones that felt glittery. The covers were a picture of the main character, a girl with red hair, named India. They were children's chapter books, not picture books. The main character India was 8-12 and lived with her mother, who was a very frazzled vet. There's one book where she comes home with a box of baby hedgehogs (?) and they have to be tended to every couple hours. One book starts on India's birthday but her mom is so busy she gets a squashed cupcake for breakfast and then awkwardly chats with her neighbor. India has some dogs, too. I don't remember if they're her mom's or her dad's. She takes them to the dog park to play. I think she and her mom have a lodger, or a neighbor, or someone; I don't remember how this character fits in, but there's a young woman who plays the didgeridoo. The books are filled with illustrations of things and it's very cute. Thank you!

You're welcome! I found this for someone on Reddit a while back and it took me a bit of digging to find it, so I'm glad that research could be put to use again. (at least, after I wasted about 10 minutes going "I'M SURE THE NAME WAS INDY. Why isn't that showing up on WorldCat? Maybe it was Indya? Indigo? Inigo Montoya?")
