Helene | 9 comments This year, I'd like to read 40 books. I didn't manage to reach this goal last year due to lack of time towards the end of the year, so wish me luck for 2018 !

I will read books in English and books in French since it is my mother tongue.

Another challenge would be to read at least one book in Swedish. It is still too difficult for me, but I hope I will be able to do it by the end of the year !

What is your mother tongue? How come you can't read in it?

I am French, so it's easy for me to read in French. I'm lucky to be fluent in English as well, therefore I can read many books in their original language, it's so much better than reading translations!

Helene | 9 comments I just finished my first book of the year: 13 à table ! 2018

This is a collection of short stories. Every year a different collection is published and the profits go to an association called "Les Restos du Coeur". Every book bought means four meals that can be distributed.

Reading for a good cause, discovering new authors and helping people at the same time, I love this idea!

Helene | 9 comments Second book of the year, another short story written in French:
La Mort est une garce by Baptiste Beaulieu

By the same author, Baptiste Beaulieu, I really advise Alors vous ne serez plus jamais triste by Baptiste Beaulieu . Unfortunately it's not translated into English, I hope it will one day, so that I can share my readings with my English-speaking friends!

So far I would say that Call Me by Your Name stands out. Though I found it a bit difficult to get into it at first. But in the end I really liked it. And I really want to see the movie.

I just finished Thirteen Reasons Why and I have to say that although the topic is not a happy one, I liked it a lot.

Blagica | 12943 comments I am actually looking to read both books this year =) Hoping March is a fantastic month for you Helene!!!!

Helene | 9 comments I hope you will!
I saw Call Me by Your Name, the film, I really liked it. The actors are really good and it's really close to the book. Also I thought the way it was filmed was very delicate.

Update on my recent reading :

Book 6 : My Sister Lives on the Mantelpiece by Annabel Pitcher . A nice one.

Book 7 : A Wrinkle in Time (A Wrinkle in Time Quintet, #1) by Madeleine L'Engle , quite disappointing.

Book 8 : The Missing Wife by Sheila O'Flanagan , not exactly what I thought it would be, but I liked it.

Book 9 : Deal Breaker (Myron Bolitar, #1) by Harlan Coben . Second reading after a few years, and again I loved it.
