Amie O'Brien | 280 comments So I had my debut novel up on all the distributors for a year, but around the holidays I decided to pull it so I could try KDP for 6 months and see if I get stronger results. It took about 5 weeks for all the various distributors to stop selling my book but, fingers crossed, it looks like I've finally been set free. :)

Now I know you can't do any price drops in those first 30 days of KDP Select. But just yesterday I decided to go ahead and have Bryan Cohen's service write a new book description blurb, facebook ad, and 5 Amazon ads for me. Then I can try increasing conversions too.. Only...it will be 4 weeks before I get those materials.

Finally, one last scenario, I am creating a reader magnet offer to put in the back of my ebook to get fans signing up for my author emails. Only, I need a few weeks before the actual goods are ready to be on automatic delivery when a reader signs up for my email list. (Dang it again!)

So can I go ahead and publish and start my 90 days and say a month or so from now add the graphic/link to the inside of my author bio page with no penalty? It seems like changing the blurb description is something we can do at any point, right? I did that before when I was with Bookbaby and it seemed pretty easy and instant.

I'd just kind of like to have an idea of how my current book description performs on KU, too.

Any thoughts?

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) You can always make changes as long as they comply with KDP. Adding contact I fo to the back of a book is fine. Leaving an incentive to review is not. You can change your price at any time as long as it is a manual change. Kindle Countdown deals have time restrictions. Reuploading a manuscript because you found an error is fine. All of this should be covered in detail on their FAQ page.

Amie O'Brien | 280 comments Perfect! Yeah, it is not anything to do with reviews, only a mention of signing up for my author e-news to get the first 2 chapters of the sequel.

Kathleen McKee (kmckee101) | 25 comments My books are in Kindle Select and I've never had any time-frame problem with uploading a revised manuscript. I, too, have been toying with adding a page at the end with a link to provide a review.

Alyson Stone (alysonserenastone) | 49 comments I think you can. I had one book in it last year and I think I made changes.

Amie O'Brien | 280 comments Thanks guys!

Update: So I did change out my book description and blurb to the new one from Bryan. (That was a piece of cake.)

My editor will have my reader magnet material completed over this weekend. (On track!)

Kindle Countdown is scheduled and I have 10 ads in place. (Pricey! LOL)

But...the link in the book’s back matter will now have to wait. (What???)

Apparently it’s not an easy fix after all. I contacted ebooklaunch vendor to see if they could add the two lines even within the existing “About the Author” page of my current mobi file. That way none of the mapping changed, page numbers, etc. But they said they wouldn’t be able to get the info in there for me at all and didn’t know who could. They said I should probably contact Bookbaby and ask them since they put the file together for me. But I republished through KDP, so that will be interesting.

Now I have to table my important e-news growth goal. I will just let this promo go through as is and try to have it done way before I launch my sequel. Kind of an unexpected boulder in the road though. It’s been a bit of a frustrating week for me. :(
