Choko this is great to have you here. We read the first installment Shaitarn and I and it was fund even if our views diverged. :D
I will read that one before it is time to start this one... I own this series too, so it is time to clean my TBR:)

Belatedly booking a spot here. Difference of opinion is one of the things that makes buddy reads fun! Thankfully we're all mature enough to still be friendly and respectful about it (quite a rarity in the online world!)

I don't know how much reading I'll get done this weekend as I will (hopefully) be doing the writing I should already have done for Camp Nano this month. I can't decide if the Emperor Jhiral is a very cunning, conniving little weasel or a petulant man-child with too much power who should've been slapped a lot more as a child. That (view spoiler) was probably going too far, but otherwise I have to say I approve of Ringil's way of tackling slavery.

Well, I didn't exactly disliked the first one. :D I just didn't adore it.
So, I have finished ages ago but didn't even have time to write a review. I liked it. But. I seem to have buts with Morgan. I like his stories but I have the way he tells them. We read the previous book dozens of books ago and I have forgotten a lot of details. And what does he do? Nothing. He doesn't care. There is no catch-up. No helping hand. So I stumbled lost and aggrieved and then I just decided I don't care.
Ringil is the ultimate anti-hero. A real anti-hero, not an anti-hero pretending to be one (like most of Lawrence's protagonists). I think it does take a talent to write one, so this is where I give Morgan his dues.
