Elizabeth (Alaska) From discussion in Feedback regarding Visual Novels, comes the report of two titles:

The Walls of Spyte
on the cover is "the first game book series for both solo and multi-player adventures" - I don't know about games, so don't know if this is about a game or some sort of interactive game.

To Be or Not To Be: A Chooseable-Path Adventure

this seems pretty straight forward to not belong. Also a "series" with another book.

Mike Briggs (mikebriggs) | 188 comments Neither are Visual novels - both are 'Gamebooks' (otherwise known as 'Choose Your Own Adventure' books - used by a specific publisher, but others use variations of that title).

If Gamebooks/CYOA books are not actually allowed on Goodreads, then here are several thousand more to remove: https://www.goodreads.com/genres/game... (1,200 books)
https://www.goodreads.com/genres/choo... (788 books - some overlap between the two lists)

I do not see Gamebooks/CYOA in either the 'These items are not books:' or the ' These items are books:' lists in the Librarian Manual. Gamebooks/CYOA have been around since at least the 1930s. Popularized as children's books in that Choose Your Own Adventure series that started in the 1970s. (As opposed to visual novels, which have been around since the 1990s).

If Gamebooks/CYOA ..."

Yes, I know they are not visual novels. But are not interactive games to be removed?

Well, as I noted, 'I do not see Gamebooks/CYOA in either the 'These items are not books:' or the ' These items are books:' lists in the Librarian Manual.' Board games, decks of cards, visual novels are in the list of 'not books'. Gamebooks/CYOA are on neither list. So I do not know if they are to be removed or not. I noted, if they are to be removed, there are several thousand to remove and I provided two links.

Probably would need to create a project thread for them if they are to be removed.

Scott | 9165 comments I would be most upset if Choose Your Own Adventure books were to be deleted.

Thus the "?" after NAB. If these are not digitally interactive, then they are probably books. I'll be sexist here, and admit that as a girl CYOA (and I had to look up what that acronym meant) wasn't part of my upbringing. Today is the first I have heard of them, and, although I haven't been around since 1930, I have grown granddaughters.

Unless I missed something, the linked examples are paperbacks. With ISBNs. And lots of textual content. So pretty clearly books.

Thanks, Rivka.
