Virginie | 6109 comments @Iain: I played with the idea of doing a yearly challenge with the page count and implemented that in my scoresheet (with helpers in column P). What do you think?
(Yes, I'm assuming that's interesting you)

But not if the spreadsheet's locked. Like Iain's, for example... "

If SOMEONE did this, I would know it was Rob or Virginie... they're the only outsiders with edit permissions on my sheet...

On goodreads, you can do that as well... the format is:

[ book: WHATEVER BOOK TITLE YOU WANT | #######]

where the number is the book number in each book's URL... Goodreads is designed that anything after #######. in a book URL is malleable... that's why some links are just book names, and other include the series name and location...

Example: House of Chains

I figured this out when I didn't like how long Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere Collection was compared to just Arcanum Unbounded

You want to read 190 pages per day, but are only managing 168?...

I'd implement that for future years, but right now it would just show a bigger number for how successful I've been...

I've been hovering at 400-420 pages per day all year, and that's WELL above my average in previous years of 250-350 pages... last 5 years I've managed 60-100k pages, and I've already read 72k this year...

Makes a quite simple Whodunnit? now, huh? Haha

And thanks for the information on book titles... This is AMAZING :D

Now that I know this, in the future I can link series by naming the first book in a series the series name in my recommendations... I only figured this out a few months ago...

And, I could have sworn I gave you permission last week...

EDIT: It says you can edit anything you want... you, me and Rob... I allowed you last week by clicking the dropdown from my sheet and clicking Protect Sheet -> it warns that I already have permissions set -> OK -> Click on my sheet, click on name and padlock, up comes a screen where you can decide which users can edit... myself and Rob are unchangeable, but I can turn your permissions on and off... they're still on... are you logged in?

Virginie | 6109 comments Iain wrote: "You want to read 190 pages per day, but are only managing 168?..."

Yup, that's it! Well, I actually want to read 150 pages/day but I put a random number to see if it worked xD

message 64: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments You could always aim at a 425 pages per day and see if you can manage it?

At this point, I don't want to push... I already read to the exclusion of almost everything else... and work is putting a bit of a damper on my ability to read on-the-clock lately... 4hrs/day instead of 6-7 the past week and for the next few weeks probably...

Permissions are a hard thing to test... I think Rob made me an admin when I was fiddling with the Team Scorecard and invented the Pages Read thread... not that I ever made much use of the privileges... you probably deserve them more than I do, with all the formula work you've done on people's sheets... but not many pages are locked anymore, anyway...

Look how often the title of the Team scoreboard on the first sheet becomes the letter i...

message 68: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments The only reason I would need the admin rights is if I wanted to change the link to the "total points" cell in people's sheets (in case I moved it). But I found a way around that :)

As it is now, I can say "Nope. Not my problem. No editing rights!" when there's a bug on the first tab x)

Really?... I thought you changed the formula to $$ last week... I have admin rights and leave it to you or Rob, because I don't trust myself not to accidentally screw it up... my favorite thing is being able to fix the tab links, since some of them broke back in February when people were copying my rudimentary color scheme for readability, instead of modifying their own sheets... led to a lot of broken URL links on the first tab...

I think we should write inappropriate comments because it's a blessed Sanderson thread :p Like Iain said, all my threads end up in the gutter anyway ^_^"

Those cookies look both yummy and disgusting xD Make me think of the goo demon a little bit :p

Baking is a good way to check for demonic possession. After all, how else are you supposed to know if you have a Hand inside you? 😅

message 73: by Anni (new)

Zaara | 4273 comments So I thought I will mstop by the Grotto (wait, how many Grottos are there?) and play...I see you both are at it agn...
Altho' I don't get the part abt the Hand. The clean part abt the Hand I mean...which seems to pun on a fantasy series?
Bcuz I so get the dirty side of the comments...

Do you know what I did on my break much of last week? I found this tiny little bakery and I gorged myself on pineapple cake. I swear I did this. I think I had some every damn day, for seven days.
The first time I ate two slices 🍰🍰 bcuz I have never....never had...pineapple quite like that...
Ok there is a legit reason behind this (seemingly) pointless rambling belongs in El Grotto...bcuz I swear *Monroe face* I am not derailing the thread from its true and dirty rightful business...wait for it...
(view spoiler)

CREEPY DISCLAIMER FOR THE POLICE: Please don't kill me. I try to resist all the dirty games for so long. I told myself thousand times that I am on parole...it didn't work....obviously all the cake has addled my brain...
Besides...I gotta earn my place among them Fluffers...
*glares*
Can't have Virginie doing all the hard work.

The Hand talk relates to Bookburners: The Complete Season 1. There's a big bad demon called the Hand. (There's also the Eye x) ).

Virginie wrote: "Oooh, I went to all the trackers, trying to find your message before realizing the Grotto was here."

Ah sorry, my mistake. The Grotto is Anni's tracker.
THIS is the Dirty Bakery...where all the cookie pics ooze and drip....because we do not get stingy with our very premium ingredients. We apply them with a luxuriously and generously loving hand

Virginie wrote: "There's a big bad demon called the Hand. (There's also the Eye x) )."

Don't you mean a big and very bad demon? And the bit about the Eye was particularly broootal, darlin' leave the poor Eye alone.

Anni wrote: "Hey Zaara, nice to have you back :) But just to make things clear right from the start, it's us Jaghut guardians who're doing all the hard work! "

Of course you are. Don't forget the dirty bakery was ALSO your idea. And like your book banner says.... its just as hard as it can get? Or is there still some way aways to go?

Yaaas darlin' its all about turning the bitter to sweet....like Mary Poppins sez....a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down...oh god, I HAVE to stop. Let us at least leave children's literature alone.
PS (view spoiler)
Don't you think the Fruit and Agriculture Board should totally hire us??

I love cheese croissants with my coffee...rather than the plain...weird?
I basically love how the French eat breakfast.

There isn't. Unless you take into account that I wasn't talking about the cheese when I said 'Yummy yummy' ^_^"

Heh, I actually don't like French breakfasts! Too sweet :/
Cheese... croissants? Oh boy. We don't put anything inside the croissants here. (Wait, I think I ranted about that to Diana somewhere a week ago).

You mean you don't like pain au chocolat? I could live on that... as a full meal. Like lunch. I'd have it as an entire lunch. Altho' i do like the salties too...like Anni says chips and popcorn and the like...
I'm not too fussy abt food....as long as its clean and not too heavily processed going in...you dont want to be eating a bunch of preservatives and chemicals. I like pasta very much.

Oh I missed this huge comment while typing my own 😅 And if my tracker is the Grotto I have to insist on it's full name, that it's the Grotto of Pleasure!

Yeah, like our book banner says it's as hard as it can get. But I think it's similar to the fruits we talked about. Sometimes you want them not as hard as they can get, but just a little soft (view spoiler)

Is that so Zaara? You like french breakfast?

I think I said enough now... Have to go back to work 😅
