Can Maya Banks fix this series?

When Day Breaks is book #9 in the KGI series. I believe that she went off the rails with PJ's story, Shades of Grey, and has never recovered. This latest story of Swanny and the supermodel Eden is so mushy and vanilla I can't believe Maya Banks wrote it. These once proud Alpha males have been brought low by love and marriage and babies. I believe Ms. Banks can still turn this series around. She has introduced a couple of new guys to keep the series going. My advice to her is to first give them exciting missions! The guys guarding Eden from what turns out to be the crazy daughter of an old enemy of her father's was boooooring. The scene where the team went in to save Eden was not enough of a payoff for the dozens of pages of modeling and whining about how neither of them feel good enough for the other. Second, the sex was too vanilla. I get Eden is a virgin the first time but after that, blah. Swanny survived torture and used to be bad ass. Surely his sexual tastes should reflect that. We are Maya Banks fans, we expect more from our sex scenes. Third, go back to basics, before the paranormal story lines they were Alpha males on missions falling in love and having hot sex with special women while things were blowing up. Am I wrong? I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks.

I couldn't agree more. I used to pre-order these, but no more. After Donovan's book, which was awful, I won't pre-order and I'm so glad I didn't pay for this one. PJ's book was the beginning of the end for me too and it's been steadily down hill since. I hope she can turn it around, but I don't know. I'm still kinda scratching my head, saying WTF happened, this used to be a great series. The last few books seemed like a totally different author from the first few in the series. You are absolutely right about going back to the basics. Give us the hot Alpha male being a badass, with gun fights and stuff blowing up, and general ass kicking with a romance and HOT sex thrown in. And of course taking out the bad guys.

So true Angelique. This book was very blah and whinny. I think at about 42% I just skipped to the end. The reason I started reading this series was because of the alpha male aspect. But this felt too much like youth , chick lit.

ok this is probably a long shot but I read this book probably about 2 years ago I cant remember the name of the book or the author (helpful huh!) but its about this couple you own a garage to together and he goes off to the army and she thinks he has died but he hasn't then he comes back looking different and starts dating his wife again. he tries to hid who he is cause hes in trouble with some people but in the enx she figures it out obviously happy ever after follows. its really bugging me that I cant remember the name of the book or the character names! if anyone could help I would really appreciate it. OH she has a nickname for him its irish. thanks x

As soon as Swanny's story hit the part where Eden is hitting on Swanny right away on the jet, I knew this book would disappoint. Can we give the two leads soem reasonable credibility to fall in love and not this love at first sight crap? This book was so bad, I didn't even donate it to the library when I was done. I threw it in the trash. I agree about the modeling whining and the vanilla sex. I skipped to the end and rated it worst KGI book ever. And as a fan, I am mad this series continues to suck. Maya Banks publicly acknowledged the fans disappointment with Donovan's story and said she would fix this. TRY HARDER MAYA!

Maya has disappeared, her first few books in the series was good. them they got weird then they got rubbish then they stopped. most readers were hooked and waiting for rusty's story. looks like that's a bust then.

Donavan's book KILLED me- I love Maya Banks, always have since the Rush series- I have loved her. But I feel like Donovan got cheated. I was pretty let down. I had a very huge "WTF" bubble hovering over my head at the end of that one.

Swanny's- while cute- was also not what I was expecting. "Cute" is not what I expect to be honest. These guys are hardcore, to the bone! That is NOT what happened here. The fact that Eden was able to be taken anyway, and in such... lazy circumstances.... kind of blew me away. That's not something any of these men would let happen, at all. At least in PJ's case it was extreme circumstances, not just because the boys relaxed- they don't do that.

I completely agree... not sure where this is going, but I'm kind of sad that these boys, who I have become emotionally attached to, aren't getting the stories they deserve.
