SOLVED. 2000s book set in the Middle East. [s]

I'm trying to recall a book I would say I read within the last 7-10 years. It was about a man (I think British or American?) who went to work in the Middle East for a king or oil conglomerate--a wealthy family. All was great until some kind of fraud was uncovered and he had his name on all the document (he may have been a lawyer). So, he took the fall. I wanted to say Dave Eggers wrote it but I looked at his biblio and I don't think so. It was a popular/well reviewed book at the time. Any thoughts? THANKS!
