I just noticed that an audio dramatization of Georgette Heyer's Friday's Child is up on the BBC website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007jq09 It will be available for another 28 days. (Unlike with BBC tv shows, BBC radio can be listened to from their website around the world.)

Wow! Thanks, Abigail. It's available in my country and I can listen to it. I so love British dramatizations! :)
Abagail, I'm going to post this on my Jane Austen group. Some of them may want to take advantage. I'll even toy with the idea myself, depending on how long it takes me to finish The Girl in the Gatehouse!
Cool, Toni! I hope it's good--but most of the things I've listened to since discovering BBC Radio online have been, so I'm not too worried. :) Marlene, they have had dramatizations of five, I think, of Austen's novels in the past year that I have been listening, so it may be worth your/your group's checking out their other offerings every so often. (I'm not sure whether that was a typical year or not.) On the menu bar, click "Categories," then "Drama."
BBC Radio has a dramatization of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility up right now, available for 28 days: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/fav...Is this the kind of thing that anybody would be interested in my occasionally posting about, when BBC Radio has programs that would fit this group's parameters? And if yes, would you rather I post here or on a new thread titled for the purpose?
They also have Austen's Northanger Abbey right now--near expiration--just 3 days left for episode 1 https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b086... (but 10 days more for episode 2)
Great! I'll try to remember to post some of the romantic dramatizations when they come up. In the meantime, since this group is focused on romance, if anyone is interested in other fiction, too, I started a thread in the group "Clean Reads" that includes other genres: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...If anyone comes across any other fitting BBC Radio adaptation, feel free to share.
Jane Austen's Emma: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b008... And good news--this one is available now/for over a year!
Persuasion - Jane Austen https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p087... This one is also available now/for over a year.
Margaret Oliphant – Phoebe Junior https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03m... 25 days left. I listened to this when they aired it within the past couple of years or so. It is a charming and funny adaptation of a novel of village/country life, with a bit of romance, written in the 1870s. Somewhat comparable to Elizabeth Gaskell or Anthony Trollope.
Georgette Heyer's Friday's Child is back and available for 29 days: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007... If you missed it when I posted it a couple of years ago, now's your chance.
Madam, Will You Talk? by Mary Stewart https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000... 24 days left to listen. Dramatization of a romantic suspense novel written in the 1950s.

Oh dear. I'm so sorry, Marlene. I'm not sure how that happened. Here is the correct link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000...
The Mysteries of Udolpho, by Ann Radcliffe. 24 days left to listen. (This was one of the Gothic romances famously satirized by Jane Austen in Northanger Abbey.) https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b086...
Memsahib Emma https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06s... 16 days left. Adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma set in mid-19th century India. I haven't listened to it yet, but look forward to trying it.
Vinegar Girl, by Anne Tyler (15-minute per episode version) https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07f... 24 days left. Adaptation in a modern setting of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. Reading; abridged.Vinegar Girl, by Anne Tyler (Omnibus version) https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07g... 29 days left.
