elena (elenavhaps) | 39 comments one of my favorite YA series is the Wayward Children trilogy by Seanan McGuire. It begins with Every Heart a Doorway and the third book is coming out next week. They're fantasy/magical realism and each book is under 200 pages. They're short and sweet and super unique. Highly recommend!!!

Grace I would suggest The Great Library Series, the first book being Ink & Bone by Rachel Caine. It has 3 books outs right now. But there will be 5 in total and it's a fantastic read. Also good if you are looking for diverse reads as well as great plots.

I really enjoyed it—which surprised me, because I hated her previous series. But I read this one on a teen recommendation and immediately grabbed the next book to read when I was done, which I don't do unless I loved it.

Melliott (goodreadscommelliott) | 510 comments I'm curious about something: No one here mentioned Turtles All the Way Down, by John Green. Did he wait too long to write another book? Are people "off" of him for other reasons? I expected there would be a lot more excitement over a new John Green than there has been, and I'd like to know if there are specific reasons, or if he is just off everyone's radar or what.

EbonyRae | 5 comments Hi! :D Most of these arent quite "new" anymore but here are some of my favorites, and maybe some of them are new to you... ? :)
A Great And Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
(Make sure you have the sequels nearby as well! If you like this one, You will want to know what happens next asap ;)
Shiver by Maggie Stievater
(Perfect snowy- weather- read! I usually read this once a winter. Sweet simple and beautiful <3)
The Truth About Forver by Sarah Dessen
(Sarah Dessen is a great writer and has alot of really good YA books, but I think this one is THE. BEST. More of a summery read though...)
A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'Engle
(Not sure what age group this series is, I read them when I was 8, but find them equally interesting now)
Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech
(Sharon Creech is one of my very favorite YA writers... I dont think you can go wrong picking one of her books, but I think the best of hers are this one, Chasing Red Bird, and Heartbeat <3)
Those are the first few that come to mind... I know I'll probably think of more haha If/When I do I'll comment again :)
Hope you find alot of great suggestions!
Happy Reading - Ebony

message 20: by Danielle (new)

Danielle | 2 comments The Bone Season series!👀

Emily Just Emily*~* | 52 comments I really enjoyed the The 5th Wave series so far, just finished the 2nd one yesterday and have the 3rd on hold. Although, since I am older, I have a hard time seeing them as YA, they are quite graphic.

The Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo starting with Shadow and Bone was quite good and went by fast, as well as the Crows books starting with Six of Crows, again though, I seem to have a struggle seeing these as YA books.

Of course there's always The Hunger Games trilogy, which wasn't my fav but my teens at home LOVED it

There are TONS of YA out there right now.

Old school....
The Face on the Milk Carton series was always my favorite

The Book Thief is considered to be a YA novel.

I would say the Falling Kingdoms series. (It's become one of my favorite series of all times.)
Brave Story by Miyuki Miyabe. That book was an amazing adventure. (Over 700 pages of pure fantasy.)
Inkworld Trilogy by Cornelia Funke!
The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson!
The Selection Series!
Collision Course by S.C. Stephens

etc.
