Cinthia (cinthiah) | 308 comments It feels like a lot more books for this march mini challenge... Hopefully we can get them done. :)

message 352: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments We have a couple more days, since March is longer. I had a few at the end of the month that didn’t need to be used. I have faith in us! :)

message 353: by Diana (new)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments Oh yeah, there are a lot of books for the mini challenge. I put 3 on the planning sheet that I will definitely read, but I think I won't be able to read more than that.
I am moving to Spain for a couple of months, starting on april, and it will be really hard to leave everything settled at home here and manage the amount of work I have to do in the meanwhile. I am really sorry I won't be of much help.

message 354: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 317 comments Completed: Throne of Glass

I am going to wait until tomorrow to start Crown of Midnight

message 355: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments I love how many spots have already been filled in! Just one thing. When you post a book here, can you let us know other letters it could work for? That way, if we need to move things around we know where they go.

Also, I think our goal should be to fill the purple letters first, since those are worth more points. Then we'll work on finishing up the shortest words first, since there is a completion bonus on each word.

Sounds like a challenging time for you. And exciting!

You've got Crown of Midnight marked as read on 3/13.

I'll fix it. I was going to start it today but then I remembered that the mini challenge starts tomorrow :) Weird that it shows as read...

Could be a glitch because it's a re-read. Or, if you marked it as Reading and then changed it, it could have picked that up.

Or, of course, it could just be that the computers can read your mind! :)

message 360: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments For the difficult/more points letters we still need:

Y
4
U
J

message 361: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments I'll put some notes on the spreadsheet as soon as I get one answer, but some of these letters cross in the crossword, so we only need 1 book for some of these spots!

message 362: by Kristel (last edited Mar 13, 2018 01:55PM) (new)

Kristel | 586 comments I'm going to read I Am Number Four for the mini challenge. So we have the number covered

message 363: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Awesome! I was just wondering I was up to a re-read of that. Divergent would work, too.

The color coding helped, but there are three missing on the letters that cross.

I don't know who did the color coding, but it turns out that we need to read a separate book for each of them, even the ones that cross. :)

Thank you to whoever did it. I'm sorry to waste your work/time like that. I forgot to post here after we got an answer in the captains' group. :(

That was me:) I think the clarification came just after I closed goodreads last night.. Oh well

Letters that it can work for, just looking at the little blurb on Goodreads,

V
M

C
F
T
J
P
A
R
L
B

Put it down for a C for now, to complete a word.

message 370: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Of the letters that are worth more points, we just need to cover another U still. Remember, cover items can be used, so if you have a book with an Umbrella on the cover, that would work (or a Ukulele!) :)

Perfect - I can do that :-)

That one isn't on any of your shelves. Can you please add it? Thanks!

Is it eligible for the mini-challenge? Started Wednesday or later?

Never mind. I was looking at the wrong shelf.

That one covered our Green 7! The only color card left is a Red 7. If no one else finds anything I'll check out some Red book lists next week. :)

I spoke too soon. It turns out the book is blue in person. :(

Jessica, you're still doing the Throne of Glass books, right?

Yes, I started Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass, #3) by Sarah J. Maas on Saturday (03/17). So sorry I was silent over the weekend :)

message 386: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Twiggs (twiggssl) | 572 comments I should have The Godfather by Mario Puzo done this week - my poor kitten started having seizures again last week, so it has been a really, really rough week and a half!

I also have another book Unforeseen (Thomas Prescott, #1) by Nick Pirog , hopefully it will work for something?

Perfect! We have a U that's not covered yet.

That's all of the letters that count for extra points. They are either read for or planned for.

message 389: by Cinthia (new)

Cinthia (cinthiah) | 308 comments Finished The Madman’s Daughter a few days ago. I've been a bit busy, but I'll be able to finish the books I have listed (and hopefully a few more). :)

There are a lot of Cs & As. Here are the rules:

“Spell-it-out" rules:
Letter needs to be the first letter in the book title, author first name or surname, character name or nickname, or setting. Articles (a/an/the) can be ignored in the book titles. For this spell-it-out, you can also use the first letter in the series name AND you can use cover items on books (e.g. an Avocado on the cover can be used for A)

This is showing a start date of 3/13 on your shelf. That's the day before the mini-challenge started. :(

Sarah Twiggs (twiggssl) | 572 comments Hmmmmm. I know I didn’t start reading it until after. Unless I accidentally clicked it?

Sometimes even if I click on the book from my Kindle, it says it’s starting to read.

I’ll try to find another C unless someone else does.

If you didn't start reading until after then we can use it. You can just change the start date.

message 396: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Twiggs (twiggssl) | 572 comments Yeah. I know I didn’t. I was saving it for the mini challenge. I will adjust the date first thing tomorrow.

I hate that about my kindle being linked. Even if I open the book and uncheck “currently reading,” it still shows it. Ugh.

Thanks! :-)

Cinthia (cinthiah) | 308 comments Finished Darkfever

message 398: by Christine (new)

Christine | 64 comments I added The Perfectionists to the spreadsheet. It can be used for the mini challenge. The book had a lot of characters: Ashley/Alex/Ava, Josh/Julie, Caitlin, Mackenzie, Parker, and Nolan.

I'm confused by the challenge. Do we actually complete the crossword puzzle? Is there a spreadsheet? I understand the rules of spell-it-out, but what are we spelling out? I'm confused.

message 399: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments There’s a tab on our planning spreadsheet called “copy of March Mini”. We’re reading for the letters that were left blank. They’re listed on that planning sheet.

message 400: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Cinthia wrote: "Finished Darkfever"

Are you still reading Bloodfever? I see it planned on the mini-challenge sheet, but your name isn't there anymore.
