Laura | 2892 comments Diana, I've read Romeo & Juliet, so I add a few categories it works for, including Reverse.

Some things to keep in mind: I always forget to check the setting, but R&J takes place in Verona, Italy, so it works for the 7, and a couple of other character spots. Those Vs can be hard to fill, so it's always good to have plenty!

Eni | 169 comments i will be reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Fool Moon for now.

How much of a color does a cover need to have?

More than 50% of a colour.

HP isn't enough of any one color, but Fool Moon works for Blue. And I've read both, so they work as Reverses, too! :)

Laura | 2892 comments Can I ask everybody to just post in here when you finish a book. You don't need to post a lot of info if you update the tracking spreadsheet, but just so I know that there is new finished books to play with.

Speedy reader award goes to Diana, who has already finished Romeo & Juliet!

I should be able to finish Phantom of the Opera tonight or tomorrow!

Will do for the next book, which I am really enjoying and shouldn’t take long to finish. :)

Let’s go team!

message 61: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Twiggs (twiggssl) | 572 comments I finished Phantom of the Opera. I think I put some info in the tracking sheet. I’ll update it tomorrow with more info. Easier to do that on a desktop than my phone :-)

message 62: by Diana (new)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments I’m done with O quinze.

Laura | 2892 comments I'm so excited to add my 2 books finished and update the spreadsheet. Not sure if I posted this earlier, but just so you ladies know the way I usually work is to fill 7s, 5s, and 8s first. I think V, I, & E are the difficult letters. Then I'll also pay attention to the color cards next. So, until those numbers are filled, our spreadsheet will look like we're all over the place, but in the last week & 1/2 to 2 weeks of the month, suddenly our hands will start to finish quickly. I know some other captains just start at the top and fill down, but then they end up moving things around, so I find this works better. :)

Sounds like a good game plan! I’ve played on teams both ways. I sometimes think this way helps to read for numbers/colors we really need!

Agreed!!!!

message 67: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Got half our Color cards covered with what's been read so far! But we still need to match color cards for the Wild D4s, as well.

Christine | 64 comments Do I need to add these to the spreadsheet or can I just put what I've read and someone will put the books where we need them?

Finished two books:
The Bette Davis Club by Jane Lotter
2 - begins with The and character Tully

Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote
2 - author Truman
3 - character Holly

Hi Christine, from what I understand you add the books to the Kuiper Book Tracking (found on the 5th post of this thread), and the team captains will add them to the Team Spreadsheet. They'll make the decisions of which cards to use.

message 70: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments If you would rather not work with the spreadsheet, we can add your books for you.

Ugh. I’m still on my second book. I made a game time decision to adopt a new kitten over the weekend. I’m hoping to be back on track this week with getting it done since the little munchkin will be settled in better :-)

message 76: by Jessica (new)

We are off to a terrific start! YAY!!

Sarah Twiggs (twiggssl) | 572 comments He really is! He was the runt of the litter. Had a rough start to life. His foster momma did an amazing job. He is settling in now. Named him Tibbs (after the cat in 101 Dalmatians). His big brother Gus (yup, after the fat mouse in Cinderella) isn’t too sure, but is super curious. I’m sure I will have fun stories to tell you guys :-)

Laura | 2892 comments Color cards left:

Yellow 1
Green 7

Jessica has a book on the spreadsheet (Rules of Magic) that works for the Yellow 1, but that Green 7 might be tricky.

message 81: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments When you look at this, keep in mind that not all captains update their spreadsheet as frequently as I do. I get on my computer when I finish a book, which will be once every day or two. But, we are currently in second place.

I should be finished with The Rules of Magic by tonight for that yellow 1 card

If we still need a green 7 I can do any of the following:

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter #2) by J.K. Rowling Voldemort
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter #7) by J.K. Rowling Voldemort; book 7
Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass, #3) by Sarah J. Maas Vaughan

All excellent choices! Whichever one you decide to do, just add it to the spreadsheet.

Laura | 2892 comments Way to go Christine, for completing hand 1 all on her own!

*That hand has 2 Draw 2s in it, and it just so happens that her first 3 books didn't work for the difficult letters, and so got applied to the first cards they did work for. :)

Laura | 2892 comments Cinthia wrote: "Question: with a last name like O'Keefe, does it go with O or K? Same with L'Engle. Is it L or E?"

However it would be shelved at a library (or other place that deals with alphabetizing). So it would be O and L.

I have always loved those books. And just about everything of hers I've ever read!

Laura | 2892 comments Megan wrote: "Completed My Heart Belongs on Mackinac Island: Maude’s Mooring by Carrie Fancett Pagels."

We can use characters' first and last names, too, so if you can, please note the characters who's names work. Thanks!

Doesn't have to be main characters, just characters with speaking parts.

message 100: by Nicole (last edited Feb 08, 2018 10:09PM) (new)

Nicole | 241 comments Finished Iron Gold. I also added to the tracking spreadsheet, taking into account characters with speaking parts
