I found something from Team Sculptor, Team Hydrus, Team Pluto, or Team Venus if someone would like to pair up on one of those teams.

Is there one you prefer over another?
If not, let's go with Team Hydrus.

No worries! I'm horrible about updating my progress on here!

I am totally cool with that, let's do it!
Savana wrote: "No worries! I'm horrible about updating my progress on here!"Haha :-))
I go through phases. Sometimes I update a lot, sometimes I only do it sporadically.

Great! Team Hydrus it is!
Eldarwen wrote: "Awesome!2 teams down for the first part of the mini challenge!
Leaves 1 more to go :-)"
I’m happy to pair up with someone on any of the teams that feature Harry Potter or Jasper Fforde - any takers??
Kelly, I compared your wish with Louise's list and found these options for Harry Potter:Milky Way, Ceres
Would you ladies like to read from one of those two teams?

Either one suits me. Philosophers Stone is reasonably short so won’t take me long to read and I already own it which makes it easier.
We can start books for the mini challenge now!Anything started BEFORE this moment cannot count for the mini challenge.
Anything started AFTER this moment will be used for mini challenge as well as Uno cards!
Kelly wrote: "Philosophers Stone is reasonably short so won’t take me long to read and I already own it which makes it easier."You haven't read the series before?
Hurrah!Not mini completion:
The Girl Behind the Painted Smile: My battle with the bottle
Oh god so so bad. Damn you SRC & amazon for making me read this. SRC for a task, Amazon for making me think it was 180pages. It wasn’t. For the love of all things, do not do it!
Anyway, finished 13 Feb
Cards: Nick char / Zara char
Back to the non cheery but well written Olive

I have read the whole series. The rules do not state you have to read something you’ve not read before do they? To be honest nothing else appealed. A lot of the books were genres I do not read. I’m pressed for time the next couple of weeks and would read something I like.
Hello Team Andromeda and Happy Valentine's Day from Team Neptune! This post is not for the points, but just to say I am happy to meet fellow Terry Pratchett-fans among you! :))))
I am looking forward to (re)read The Witches/Tiffany Aching books based on your recommendations. :)
Have a lovely day!
Hellooooo Melinda!I am a total Death fan :-D And I love the way he TALKS IN ALL CAPITALS. Rat Death is pretty cool too ;-)
Happy Valentine's Day to you too!

Oh no, no, I was just wondering if you'd read them or not.
Rereads are allowed as long as it's been more than 6 months since you've last read the book(s).

Sam Vimes is my literary husband, I have a secret crush on Vetinari and Death is a scream. So is Nanny Ogg. :))))
I'll drop by once I finished the books to chat some more.
Team Neptune, out. ;)

Definitely longer than 6 months since I’ve read it. I love them so it will be a pleasure to reread! I can start after I finish my Blue 9 which I was up to the early hours reading. It’s a bit of a tear jerker!
I reread the Harry Potter series about a year and a half ago but audio that time around, read by Stephen Fry, which gave them a little something extra. It was nice!Oh tear jerker! Sometimes I love a good tear jerker, especially when I cannot seem to be able to put them down!

SQUEAK!
Susan's pretty awesome. but my heart remains with the Witches.
And Moist (shudder) von Lipwig. Rincewind sucks though!

I have the audio versions as well as hard copies. I’m waiting for my son to be old enough to appreciate them!
Can always count on Danielle Steel to bring me to tears - nostalgic read as I used to read these when I was a teenager!
Kelly wrote: "I’m waiting for my son to be old enough to appreciate them!"I got my not-yet-5-yr-old nephew the illustrated eds of HP (PS, CoS & PoA), and he's read them all! Well, his dad has. Well, they've for sure read PS & CoS, and started PoA. Not sure if they've finished it, or decided it's a bit too much for the boy.
what was nice is that my BiL hadn't read any HP before, so it was new for both of them :)
I consider it my aunterly duty to turn all of my niblings into readers! :)

Aunts definitely have a duty! My nephew is 7 and is a huge reader. I bought him the Faraway Series by Enid Blyton which was one of my favourites for Christmas hoping to get him hooked. To be honest my 2 year son also adores books. He has boxes of them everywhere and the library is his favourite place. He’s my mini bookworm!
Yes, absolutely! Aunts have a duty in that respect!! :-) I will also be the aunt to buy books for everyone! Sadly, for now, they're all still too young for actual books but the playbooks and learner thingies are much appreciated already.Mini bookworm! Adorable <3
Pratchett's names are nothing sort of genius.Lipwig?? I mean... really....
I need to start catching up with those books! There are so many I haven't read yet, including the witches books. I've read most of the Death ones though and at least one Guards book.
Are we allowed to read the same book from a different team? I was considering reading Harry Potter, but saw someone else was also reading it, but from a different team’s list of books.
Savana wrote: "Are we allowed to read the same book from a different team? I was considering reading Harry Potter, but saw someone else was also reading it, but from a different team’s list of books."
That's absolutely fine! And actually, we're allowed to read the same book from the same team if you want.

I still need someone to pair up with. We could both read Harry Potter from Team Milky Way?
Eldarwen wrote: "Kelly, I compared your wish with Louise's list and found these options for Harry Potter:Milky Way, Ceres

I'd rather Team Ceres, I can read the next in the Sookie Stackhouse series
:)
Cat wrote: "That's absolutely fine! And actually, we're allowed to read the same book from the same team if you want." Awesome! I am actually going to read POA, as that's where I'm at in the series. :) thanks for the clarification!
I think that's Kelly & Louise from Ceres then: HP & Sookie.E & I are plundering Mensa.
Savana & Ashlee reading recs from Hydrus (HP for Savana and tbc for Ashlee)
That work?
And then we can turn our attention to the smogasbord of Part 2, and the "reasonable" links we can make.
FWIW, guidance so far on obvious questions:
"it's the same book"; "it's the same author" are totally reasonable.
"both authors have a [insert letter of your choice] in their name" is not.
I am going to read
which will work for several teams as the In Death series has been recommended more than once.I also started a quicky cozy mystery today, which I'm sure I'll be able to fit in somewhere. I'll have a closer look tomorrow to see what it could work for.
Hi guys. I haven't stopped in in awhile and just thought to say I'm still here and reading. I told my Cutthroat team, but forgot to stop in here and say that we're dealing with a sewer backup and trying to get everything cleaned up, sorted, dealing with insurance and contractors all while trying to keep 2 little kids out of the way. So I haven't completed anything and haven't had a chance to take a look at the mini-challenge, but I'm hoping to get some time to do both soon. :)

There are a lot of annoying things that can happen and sewer backup is definitely one of the nastier ones :-/

For Uno, we traditionally have a mini challenge each month. I didn't want to tell you at the beginning of the month so it wouldn't look too daunting. Now that you've gotten the hang of Uno itself, it'll look less scary.
Please head over to this thread (as linked in the post from the Uno Pixie) and read the rules about what needs to be done.
The mini challenge is set up in two parts.
First part:
- reading two recommended books from three other teams each
Second part:
- read books somehow connected to three books as recommended by the remaining 18 teams
===============
For the first part:
Cat and I have already made the decision to read for Team Mensa as we both have books ready to go that have been recommended by players from that team.
We will need to decide on two more teams.
Please browse through the recommendations - also provided in the above linked thread - and see which books you'd like to read. From your comments, we will then decide which other two teams we're going to use in the first part.
Thanks! And happy browsing (don't put too many books on your TBR ;-))
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
