I have a vocabulary question: is a blanket only this thin, mostly woolen thing that you use on your couch or could you also call a duvet that you use to cover yourself in bed a blanket?

message 615: by Jan, Moderator (new)

Jan | 20942 comments Rosa - a blanket would include both the throw you would use on the couch and the blanket, duvet or even quilt that you would use on your bed. Hope that helps....post a picture and I'll give you the yay or nay verdict on it.

message 616: by [deleted user] (new)

thanks, Jan! I think they are lying on top of a duvet-style blanket:

Capture (Seaside Pictures, #1) by Rachel Van Dyken

but I haven't looked into the book yet, so I'm not ready to claim it if it fits because I'm not sure if I'm going to read it or not

I've started it and I'm going to read it. Not sure if I'm going to like it because I thought the female MC would be older and that the blurb refered to something in her past, but it's the only book on my TBR that fits with this challenge and I want to help finishing it (the R author doesn't hurt for my spell-outs, either)

message 619: by Jan, Moderator (new)

Jan | 20942 comments You are so sweet Rosa to want to help get this wrapped up...lol.

Hope it turns out okay.

with many thanks to my library!

they're just awesome. usually you could write book requests in a guestbook on their homepage, but since there was a major hack they had to put all down and make everything new and for now you can directly mail your wishes to the people who seem to order the books they buy for the overdrive library.

it's like a letter to the Christkind!! :D I sent in a huge list (was saving for the guestbook to come back) and they got me almost all of my wishes, yay!

edit: maybe my next request could be: anything (preferable crime, romance or non-fiction) with a microscope on the cover, lol

message 635: by Jan, Moderator (new)

Jan | 20942 comments LOL...I'm glad that the library is being such a great help. With both you and their help we might get this one done.

message 637: by Jan, Moderator (new)

Jan | 20942 comments Great Rosa!!

Is that first book in that series you've read? I was looking at the interesting covers yesterday and there are a LOT of books in that series.

message 638: by [deleted user] (new)

no, I've read a lot of books from Ngaio Marsh so far, you don't really have to read them in order, the side story is extremly small - like with Agatha Christie's Marple or Poirot

message 639: by Jan, Moderator (new)

Jan | 20942 comments I like when you find series you don't have to read in order. It helps when you are looking for a certain series number. I will keep this one in mind.

message 640: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 1573 comments I finally found a book with a microscope! Even though the challenge is archived I still want to finish it. I will take microscope with The Demon Under the Microscope From Battlefield Hospitals to Nazi Labs, One Doctor's Heroic Search for the World's First Miracle Drug by Thomas Hager The Demon Under the Microscope: From Battlefield Hospitals to Nazi Labs, One Doctor's Heroic Search for the World's First Miracle Drug by Thomas Hager

Barb | 1647 comments Jan wrote: "I like when you find series you don't have to read in order. It helps when you are looking for a certain series number. I will keep this one in mind."

As long as you remember that the series was first written quite some time ago, so a lot of the references and attitudes are dated, it's an entertaining series. I've read -- or listened to? I can't remember -- the first two books and have enjoyed them enough to continue. I like having the N author in my "stable" :)

Karen | 621 comments Behind Closed Doors by Sadie Ryan by Sadie Ryan

This would finish this challenge if you can find someone to read it! I don't have a Kindle so I can't help you, unfortunately! Looks good too!

message 644: by Jan, Moderator (new)

Jan | 20942 comments Thank Karen! I have a door knocker book too but just haven't gotten to it yet.

Karen | 621 comments That one I can get at the library - we'll see who gets to it first. Looks good too!

message 647: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1647 comments Jan, I've lost track of what letter we're looking for next. Are we still on J? And I'm confused by Karen's comment (message 663), This would finish this challenge. Is this challenge ending?

message 648: by Denise S (new)

Denise S | 2883 comments oh I forgot all about this archived challenge - are there others that have a few to get?

message 649: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 1573 comments Barb, this is the old I Spy challenge that I found a book for one of the incomplete tasks. I do think we are in J on the ABC I Spy challenge since I think my I-insects was the last letter claimed.

Denise, maybe Jan will open up the three that were claimed but never got completed.

Barb - as mentioned above, this is an old I spy game. Here's the link to the new one. We are actually on K now.
