Elinor | 1548 comments I never get to read all the books on my TBRs but I like to already pick some books that I really want to read to as soon as possible. But I'm not strict and restricting myself to this TBR. I often end up reading other things to because my mood changed. I'm sure I'm not going to finish half of my TBR but I will try to read as much as possible ^^
In July I finished 8 books (excluding all graphing things), but I hadn't choose a TBR since I was going to London and only briging one book with me, wth the idea that I would then read something bought there ! ^^

message 52: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments Yay, another monthly TBR! :D
Good luck!

message 53: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments Thanks :) it felt not as rewarding in July to not be able to strike books I just finished ^^

message 54: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments Yeah! I love updating my spreadsheet (for the competition) after each book :D
I'm thrilled you're joining next year, by the way! It'll be super fun! :)

message 55: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments I just get hit by a surge to read a Lauren Layne. So one more on my TBR but this one won't stay here for long I think ^^

message 56: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Great job Elinor!! That is a great number taking into account that you even traveled. Really well done!

Good luck with your list this month!

And I just added Lauren Lane to my TBR also. Her books look great and I'm going shopping now to see if I find any.

btw. I'll probably snoop around your titles here and snatch some for my to be read soon list also. Hope you don't mind. :D

message 57: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments Thanks Laura :) my reading of novels and essais has dropped a few years ago thanks to my discovery of comics and my relapse in the world of mangas, and I was happy to finish quite a few books in July, including a classic in English ^^
Ooooh I hope you will love Lauren Lane just as much as I do because I so do love them ^^ and feel free to do so, I don't mind at all, quite the contrary ^^

And Virginie, I didn't see your last comment ! I'm excited for this competition !

message 58: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments I spoke to my bookstore and they have around 15 titles of hers. Is there anything you could recommend me? Those you loved most? I already asked them to set aside Broken for me. But haven't read anything of hers and I'd like to go according to recs first.

message 59: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments I started with the first Oxford novel, Irresistibly Yours, and loved it, but it is set after the Sex, love and Stiletto series. I would say I loved the most Irresisibly yours and Love the one you're with, after that goes Just one night and After the kiss that would have loved loved loved if not for the ending. But I would recommend reading the Sex love and stilleto series in order, it is more impactful. Since I found the first installment of the first series, After the Kiss, a bit weaker, I would suggest starting with Irresistibly yours, but only if you don't mind being spoiled on who ends up with who.
I have yet to read anything that is not in one of those connected series :)
And if you want to buddy read any of them, tell me, I would love to do so :)

message 60: by Laura (last edited Jul 29, 2018 07:28AM) (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Thank you!!! :)

Would definitely love to buddy read them. I'll get the Sex, love and Stiletto series together with the Redemption Series then. And Oxford as you say they're great.

All in all:
Sex, love and Stiletto - 1 to 4
Redemption - 1, 2 and 0.5
Oxford - 1 to 3

they have even Love Unexpectedly 1 to 4 and The Best Mistake 1 and 2 but maybe I should leave these for later? On the other hand...

I'll ask you not to mention my overflowing bookshelf challenge please. (*cringes cause cannot help herself*)

Wow - what a list!! I seem to be similarly over ambitious as well these days haha. I know at most all I can do is 10, but I seem to be picking 15 anyway. Lol

message 62: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments Ahah I do know the feeling Niki, but what can I say, I like to have options...

message 63: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments Laura : If I was listening to myself, I would have bought them all already. But sometimes I'm sensible. Kind of. Whichever you want to read the most (and outside the Stilleto and Oxford I don't know anything about them except "these are Lauren Layne books. So I want to read them. Because Lauren Layne is the Queen of romrom and sexy and cute and...". I will just say that the one I'm the more intrigued by may be Blurred line. On the other hand, The Best Mistake is a shorter series, and that's great for my Incomplete series challenge. But whatever. Those brackets have been open for way too long.), I will read with you :)
And I would never do such a treacherous thing. Nope. Actually, Lauren Layne books are quite good to boost a challenge and a reading progression since I found they are really quick to get through. Just saying.

Me too :)

message 65: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments Aaannnd... I have to take off The Trouble with Love because I binge-read it between yesterday and this morning. So yeah. (and I'm totally game for another Lauren Layne book in August Laura :))

message 66: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments So my bookstore friend got stuff confused. It seems those Lauren Layne books are not available in paperback. So no luck there. (*and my Overflowing Bookshelves Challenge is letting out a long relaxed breath*) :D

I can still get my hands on some of them though (with the beg or borrow method :)). In fact, Broken (Redemption 1) would be the first. Would you like to BR that one with me sometime next week? After we finish the Klune book on NBC?

message 67: by Elinor (last edited Aug 01, 2018 11:59PM) (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments Yep for sure ! :)
(that's a shame that there are not in paperpack ! I'm reading them on my e-reader cause there are cheap as e-books.)

message 68: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments I updated my TBR for the month. Added as many things for the KD read through that I thought I would be able to do, and took of a few of my prior list.
I'm a bit afraid of this monster.

message 69: by Elinor (last edited Aug 12, 2018 09:43AM) (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments Finished round 11 ! that makes only 27 books still to earn xD

message 70: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments Yay, great job!

And lol at your 'Total immunity' buy :D

message 71: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments Thanks :)
Yep I'm not going to count the Kate Daniels, especially since they aren't meant to stay on my TBR at all xD

message 72: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Yeay Elinor! :) Great job!

message 73: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments Thanks Laura !

I don't even want to count how many more books that makes. But, yeah, not really regreting it either.
Doesn't it shows that I'm in a nostalgia mood and I've been wanting to read middle grade (especially fantasy) ? I'm looking for my new Harry Potter. I will surely end up re-reading Harry Potter with the group.

message 83: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8702 comments Wow, such a good haul!! I really want All Systems Red. I'll probably get it on kindle at some point.

message 84: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments we could BR it when you do :)

message 85: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Wow! Now that is what I call an awesome haul!!
I think you're gonna love The Infernal Devices. And if you want to read Steelheart I'd love to BR it with you.

message 86: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments I hope I love it ! I really really enjoyed City of Bones when I read years ago but I'm not sure I should get back to this series now. However TMI seems to have so much love and the setting and all... I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love it :)
Cool ! Don't know when I will get to it though, don't even know if I can get to it in 2018 ^^

message 87: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Ha! I've been trying to get to it since Jan and it's almost September now. A few more months won't hurt. :D

message 88: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments Impressive if you got cursors fury I’m assuming you read the first 2 I’ve read that one and I really enjoyed it definitely goes bigger than the previous book

message 89: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments @ Ahdam : Only read book 1 so far, I'm doing the BR for the 2nd one and perhaps the 3rd one if I can finish Academ's fury in time !

@ Laura : Well we can try... I don't know... in October ? When I'm done with Assassin's Quest and hopefully older BR that I didn't finished...

message 90: by Elinor (last edited Sep 27, 2018 11:42AM) (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments Here is the deal for Septembre : I'm setting myself a challenging but reasonnable (well kind of) TBR. If I manage to finish every one of them, I'm taking one book of my "to be earned pile" (yes, I'm that desperate).
*: Leftovers from august

Dear Aaron *
The Crowns of Croswald *
The Duchess Deal *
Magic Strikes *
Magic Mourns
Magic Bleeds
Magic Dreams
Magic Slays
Magic Tests
Fangirl *
Shadow and Bone
Twice Drowned Dragon
A Stone's Throw
Dead of Knight
Brood Mother
Into the North
Romancing the Duke
Trust
Le Pari
Shards of Honor (MacHalos)
Sandman Slim (MacHalos)

Don't think I will finish them but need to start / continue on :
Academ's Fury
Winston Churchill * ✓

Karishma (karishmanewar) | 1617 comments This showed up in my feed, and I saw my name and rushed here.

You need to add in Romancing the Duke!

You have such good books here* looking at Kings of the Wyld* I wish I had time!

message 92: by Karishma (new)

Karishma (karishmanewar) | 1617 comments And Kate Daniels of course- enjoy!

message 93: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments Forgot Romancing the Duke ! *palm face*
Kings of the Wyld is really good ! I'm almost half-way through.
Are you going to do a TBR ? I love making those lists - and striking books from them !

message 94: by Karishma (new)

Karishma (karishmanewar) | 1617 comments I'm going to do that from January. ( And everything else)

From Tomorrow the 1st till end of December to concentrate on exams I have decided to keep everything unplanned and according to whatever mood strikes me.

I only have the one's we have in common, Heart's Blood and Foundryside planned after that.

message 95: by Karishma (new)

Karishma (karishmanewar) | 1617 comments I love making lists but on paper or spreadsheet.
I find the adding books on Goodreads comments very tiring via add book/author.

message 96: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments Finished one book, that makes 1 out of 21 for September !

xD
(yes I'm finding that extremely funny)
(maybe because this ending put me in such a good mood)
