I'm listening th Record of a Spaceborn Few. I am 40% in and after some initial confusion with the multitude of characters, I am now firmly hooked. I had to restart the book 3 times (about 10% in) as my mind kept wandering. Things are pretty hectic around me though so that is probably not a reflection on the book.

I just finished Poisonfeather and all I can say is that I'm glad the third in the series is out and available because this one ended on a seriously major cliffhanger. I really like the main character, Gibson Vaughn. He's a good man, loyal, and, of course, a trouble magnet. There are some additions in this second in the series that are simply despicable but one in particular that I want to see more of. I'll have to get the next installment and hope for a reappearance.
I've started Spinning Silver on audiobook and I'm not enjoying it as much as I had hoped I would. Maybe it will grow on me. I'm not that far in.I finished The Cuckoo's Calling for my zodiac challenge and then I realized I wasn't all that enamoured of what I had planned. Can't I read a book "just because"? But I couldn't decide on what I wanted to read. Even a randomizer didn't help since I kept rejecting every selection. So fluff it needed to be. It dawned on me that my challenge pick might fit the bill.
So, I started and finished Kale last night. That put me in a bit of a snarky mood. (view spoiler)
And now I'm back to trying to decide what I pick up next.

I will be interested to see ow how [book:Spinning Silver works out for you Janice. I'm very tempted by it.
I finished The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper. I'm a sap for these kinds of feel good stories. I enjoyed it very much. I'm currently reading two more "veggie" books - both more savory than sweet. The Beet Queen and The Pumpkin Rollers. My earthworm book is still inching along and my time on Corfu has only just started. My ears are glued to Passing.

I'm about half-way through. So far, it's a 3-4 star read for me. I'm hoping that it will improve. I'm not enamoured with the narrator. She's passable, but there are 3 different POVs and it's hard to differentiate between their voices.
Sarah wrote: "I hope you find something that interests you soon Janice."I enjoyed The Cuckoo's Calling, so I've decided to go with the next in the series The Silkworm.
Finished Paris Echo - review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Finished Shantaram. Listen to this chunkster if you can! My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished The Earth Moved: On the Remarkable Achievements of Earthworms for my ZZ challenge and have started The Long Utopia for the same. Still reading The Beet Queen, The Pumpkin Rollers, My Family and Other Animals and listening to Passing. I had to restart the audio book. I think I slept through too much of it.

Maybe the print version is a better choice than the audio for this one. I was thinking of getting it too. It's definitely on my TBR, but I'm going to be really disappointed if it doesn't live up to its hype.
Janice, I'll be interested to hear what you think when you've made it all the way through.
I am half way through the group read The Gabriel Hounds. It is pretty good. I loved Mary Stewart when I was younger but always preferred her fantasy novels.I started listening to The Outsider yesterday. Less than 10% in but, so far, I am hooked :-)
Glad you've started it Margo. I found it very hard to put down. I've been really slow at reading recently but I flew through this one which was a nice change.
I'm almost halfway through Leave No Trace. It was really slow to start for me. It's better now, but still won't be a favorite. I just started The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I forgot this is an epistolary. It's not a style of writing that I generally enjoy and I didn't immediately become engaged in the story, but I just started so I'm hoping it grows on me.
I've started The Coming, as nothing I've read the past month is working, and I'm all slumpy. So why not give a short, surrealist, vaguely mystery, Montenegrin book a go.It's been interesting the past 30 pages. It's too short for my ZZ but I am going for small goals here, of just completing a book.
Lexx is getting annoyed with my half read books left around the house...
I hope a short book works out for you Rusalka. I had to do that recently and found it was helpful. That and going for an author I know I love. I never know what to do with half read actual books - it's much easier with kindle in that respect. I have a lot of reference books lying around at the moment as I'm using them for my studies. None are read from cover to cover but of course I dip in and out of them. Rob also gets annoyed by that so I have sympathy with you.

I liked her writing in those books too..an entirely different thing than HP.
I am reading The Gabriel Hounds 50% , enjoying the book.
Cold Comfort Farm 50% , an enjoyable read.
Excellent Women just started.
and
Hamlet 60% Enjoying this too.

A few short books can be a good way out of a slump. Hope it helps Rus ;-)
Maybe a binge re-reading of your comfort reads will help,Rusalka..it does me.And I can sympathize with your half completed books..sometimes you just can't settle down on a book..yet nothing really grabs you either,so you keep getting distracted by other books..

I also enjoyed The Silkworm more than the first. It was actually my favorite of the three. I'm looking forward to the fourth coming out this year, September I think.
Slumps are no fun but it just takes some “mind-clearing” and a good read ;) to get back in a groove. Hang in there!I am getting back into Homegoing after finishing Everything Here Is Beautiful and it is much more engaging this time...so perhaps I had been in a slump myself the first time around!

I’ll do a buddy read of the fourth with you if you’re interested. Let me know when you’re ready if you finish the third and want to continue.

I just finished Two Under the Indian Sun and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and The Trees and now I think I will start on I Will Always Write Back: How One Letter Changed Two Lives
Kristie wrote: "I’ll do a buddy read of the fourth with you if you’re interested. Let me know when you’re ready if you finish the third and want to continue."Sounds great! I will read the 3rd as soon as I finish The Silkworm so I'll be ready for the fourth book when it's published. I'll set up the buddy read thread for it.
Thanks for setting it up, Janice!Yes, it’s Robin, siriusedward. Will you be joining us for the buddy read?

I have the book with me too..but I am afraid of the books intensity..and if it is a tearjerker..it must be...
I am 42% into it and so far I don't think it's depressing. It is thought provoking and very touching. I will let you both know when I'm done.

Heather and Jenn - I'm liking Circe so far - about half way through. I'm wondering whether there's a big reveal or something cones to a head in the second half...

I agree with Sandra and glad you're enjoying it. Margo - Despite the topic I didn't find it depressing, An odd thing to say, but interestingly it was uplifting in a way...
