(view spoiler)[Okay, so Jem is cute and I'm immediately shipping him and Tessa (what can I say, I'm a shipping addict!) Although I think the book is setting it up for there to be a love triangle between Jem, Will and Tessa.

So it's looking like Nate is also maybe a Downworlder, and their father was too. Although, the concept of them being caught up in this seedy Downworlder faction is a bit scary.

I can't believe that Charlotte is only 23!! She's written as a very mature older woman, that I suspected late 30s, early 40s. But no, 23 years old! I'm 24, almost 25 and I can't tell you how old this book is making me feel by having the sensible motherly figure be the 23 year old!

The whole 'clockwork/automan' creations are interesting though, and horrifying sounding.

Really didn't see Mortmain being the Magistar! But he's just a human?? And the reveal that Nate is in cohoots with him and is desperate to stay in his favours! I just didn't see it coming!

Those last few chapters were tense man!

Finished chapter 5 - Shades of the Past

Okay, so beginning is a little bit slower but I loved Prologue. I hope Will is going to visit Old Molly more.

Spoils are horrifying and disgusting! I would probably react as Tessa did.
